Staff QA Engineer (w/m/d)

Your mission

We develop scalable, flexible solutions for the online retail of the future, from ERP systems to shop and marketplace integrations. 

As Staff QA Engineer, you'll shape how quality is engineered across multiple teams and our platform architecture — not just within a single team. You'll own the technical direction of our test automation and quality strategy, act as a technical sparring partner for engineering leadership, and raise the testing bar across the org. We work agentic-first, so AI assistants like GitHub Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT are part of how we build every day.

Your responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical direction of our test automation frameworks — not just contribute tothem, butdecide how they should evolve
• Drive quality strategy across multiple engineering teams,identifyingsystemic risks in our platform before they surface in production
• Define and track quality metrics that actually move theneedle, anduse them to influence engineering priorities
• Act as a technical sparring partner in architecture and design reviews,advising onquality and risk considerations before decisions are made
• Cover complex test types beyond functional/E2E — API and integration testing, performance and load testing, release regression strategy
• Lead root-cause analysis on critical incidents and turn findings into structural process or architecture improvements
• Mentor engineers and QAs across the teams you work with, raising their testing maturity and practices.
• Use AI assistants and agents toscaletest automation, analysis, debugging, and documentation across teams

Your profile

• Several years of experience in test automation and quality engineering, including ownership of test architecture or framework decisions across more than one team
• Deep understanding of complex software systems and how to assess risk at a platform level, not just feature level
• Proven experience designing and evolving test automation frameworks, including test strategy decisions within CI/CD (what gates a merge, quarantine handling for flaky tests, parallelization for fast feedback)
• Track recordof mentoring other engineers/QAs and influencing technical decisions without formal authority.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving approach, with the judgement toprioritizesystemic issues over one-off bugs
• Confidentcommunications withtechnical trade-offs and risk to both engineering leadership and non-technical stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools, or a clear, demonstrabletrack recordof adopting new tooling quickly

• Excellent written and spoken English and good German skills
