AI Summary

Design and scale a cloud-native platform optimized for geospatial and AI/ML workloads. Own the internal developer platform, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and observability systems.

THE COMPANY
We are NEURAL EARTH. We bring clarity to physical risk, enabling leaders to engage with confidence and enact resilient, business-critical decisions. Today's environmental, economic, and infrastructure challenges are deeply interconnected, yet the data required to understand these relationships is scattered across siloed and aging systems. Neural Earth enables operational execution, delivering a single decision intelligence platform that unifies planetary, governmental, and asset-level data, always on and always learning. This is technical work that requires patience. It requires teams willing to operate at the intersection of AI research, geospatial science, distributed systems, and enterprise deployment. It is also incredibly rewarding. Join us at Neural Earth — the next frontier is here.

THE TEAM

Neural Earth's Engineering team powers the full stack of our decision intelligence platform. The Platform function is responsible for the cloud-native infrastructure every product, model, and data pipeline runs on. This team takes developer experience seriously. They build the foundations that let everyone else move fast and hold a high bar for reliability, observability, and security. You will work closely with AI/ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams to ensure models and applications can be deployed, monitored, and iterated on with confidence.

THE ROLE

Neural Earth is hiring a Staff Platform Engineer to serve as the technical backbone of our geospatial infrastructure. You will design, build, and scale the cloud-native platform that powers all of our AI and geospatial products. You will own developer experience, architect CI/CD pipelines, manage container orchestration, and ensure our systems are reliable, observable, and performant at scale. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, DevOps, and software architecture with a deep emphasis on geospatial and AI/ML workloads. You treat the platform as a product, reduce cognitive load for the teams that depend on you, and stay hands-on with the build. This is you!

HOW YOU'LL BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Architect: Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) optimized for geospatial and AI/ML workloads, with reliability, security, and performance built in from the start.

  • Own: Build and evolve the internal developer platform including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi), and containerized deployment workflows (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) so engineering teams ship with speed and confidence.

  • Enable: Reduce cognitive load for feature squads through self-service tooling, clear documentation, and platform abstractions that let engineers focus on product rather than infrastructure.

  • Observe: Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting across all production services, defining SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs so that when something breaks, we know before our customers do.

  • Secure: Establish and enforce security best practices including SOC 2 compliance, secrets management, network isolation, and IAM policies, treating security as a product quality standard, not a compliance checkbox.

WHY WE VALUE YOU

  • You have 7 or more years in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering with deep expertise in AWS, GCP, or Azure including compute, storage, networking, and managed services.

  • You have strong proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and ECS/EKS and have operated these systems in demanding production environments.

  • You are experienced with Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation and CI/CD platforms including GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and ArgoCD.

  • You are proficient in at least one scripting or systems language (Python, Go, Bash, Rust) and you write platform tooling other engineers actually want to use.

  • You have experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK) and have built monitoring systems that generate real signal, not just alert noise.

  • You treat the platform as a product. Developer experience is as important to you as uptime.

  • You lead architectural decisions with conviction and update your views when the evidence changes.

  • You translate infrastructure complexity into language that engineers, product managers, and security teams all understand.

  • You stay hands-on. Even at a staff level, you are in the code and you take personal ownership of the reliability of what you build.

  • Geospatial and AI/ML workloads (massive raster datasets, high-throughput inference, real-time pipelines) are problems you find genuinely interesting to solve.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7-10 years in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering

  • Deep expertise with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

  • Strong proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent)

  • Prior experience with geospatial infrastructure (tile servers, raster processing, PostGIS, STAC) is a strong plus

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $155,000 to $193,000 annually, reflecting progression within the role based on demonstrated growth and impact.
