Job Summary
The Senior WMS Technical Solutions Architect plays a critical role in supporting and evolving Border States’ Warehouse Management System. This role partners closely with IT, Supply Chain, Operations, and implementation partners to design, configure, and enhance Blue Yonder WMS solutions that enable safe, efficient, and scalable warehouse operations. The position requires deep technical expertise, strong collaboration, and a commitment to long term system sustainability.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Designs, configures, and enhances Blue Yonder WMS solutions to support operational efficiency and warehouse scalability.
- Provides hands on technical development, including code review, debugging, and system enhancements aligned with approved solution designs.
- Supports warehouse layout, zones, locations, workflows, and strategies to ensure accurate inventory handling and optimized material flow.
- Troubleshoots operational and system issues using Trace files, MOCA, SQL, and other technical tools.
- Develops and supports integrations between Blue Yonder WMS and enterprise systems such as ERP, TMS, carrier platforms, and warehouse robotics.
- Participates in data conversion and migration activities, including mapping, validation, and reconciliation.
- Partners with BOR Specialists, analysts, and quality teams to support unit testing, integration testing, UAT, and cutover activities.
- Supports go live, hyper care, and post deployment stabilization to ensure smooth transitions for warehouse teams.
- Collaborates with business analysts, warehouse leaders, and external partners to translate operational needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Creates and maintains technical documentation, configuration artifacts, and support materials.
- Provides technical guidance and knowledge sharing to grow internal Blue Yonder WMS capability.
- Maintains an in depth understanding of warehouse operations and WMS processes, including receiving, putaway, inventory management, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, and exception handling.
- Ensures system design and configuration align with operational standards, safety requirements, and long term sustainability goals.
Non-essential Functions
- Attends and assists with training programs, workshops, and vendor-led sessions as needed.
- Provides technical training and presentations for internal teams and external partners.
- Supports evaluation of new warehouse technologies, automation solutions, and integration tools.
- Assists with documentation related to testing, design, and solution architecture.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse operations and IT.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field, or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum 5 years of hands on experience as a Blue Yonder WMS Technical Architect, including configuration, development, troubleshooting, and integrations.
- Experience with APIs, HTTP requests (e.g. GET, POST, etc.), JSON/XML formats, Web Services, Java language knowledge (J2SE/J2SEE standards), and Postman required.
- Understanding of programming fundamentals (compiling and debugging, PowerShell, Python, SQL/PLSQL, Snowflake, MOCA, Oracle knowledge and ability to write complex queries using SQL (SQL*Plus, SQL Developer, TOAD) required.
- Ability to read and interpret Trace files required.
- Hands on experience with Blue Yonder WMS (JDA/Blue Yonder SCE) such as Cloud Version BY 2024 and/or Cognitive Version in the cloud) required.
- Understanding of warehouse operations and WMS processes (receiving and putaway, inventory management & cycle counting, replenishment strategies, picking, packing, and shipping, and exception of inventory management) required.
- Experience working with system integrators, implementation partners, Jira, and hands on experience with integration tools preferred.
- Knowledge of BY Platform and BYDM preferred.
- Experience supporting large-scale WMS implementations or multi-site rollouts preferred.
- Familiarity with wholesale distribution, high-volume fulfillment, or automated warehouse environments preferred.
- Exposure to advanced warehouse technologies (e.g. conveyor systems, ASRS technologies such as AutoStore, Robots, and/or Locus Bots) preferred.
