The Sr. Product Manager - Monetization supports content and audience monetization initiatives across the USA TODAY Network, driving revenue through strategic and technical solutions that enhance the user experience and enable scalable content distribution, partnerships, and monetization across national and local brands.
This strategic and technical role partners with Content, Business Development, Engineering, Data Engineering, and Sales to define and manage technical requirements, support agile delivery, and ensure high-quality execution of monetization platforms. The role owns product roadmap, testing, solution validation, and release management. This individual will provide operational and technical support for content syndication, licensing, affiliate integrations, and internal monetization systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support content and audience monetization initiatives across the USA TODAY Network by delivering scalable, reliable technical solutions that drive revenue and enhance the user experience.
Define and lead the strategic vision, high-level milestones, and KPIs to drive significant growth in Content monetization.
Serve as a strategic partner to Content Growth team, accountable for the product approach to provide data-informed decisions and execution in support of revenue and audience growth.
Advance AI-driven monetization opportunities by identifying, evaluating and shaping emerging use cases, including agentic monetization approaches.
Serve as a technical resource for development teams to expand, clarify, and define requirements for monetization platforms, translating business, editorial, and revenue needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
Partner with Engineering to drive agile delivery, including backlog management, sprint planning, testing, release coordination, and post-launch validation across monetization, content, and community platforms.
Provide operational and technical support for content syndication, licensing, community platforms, and affiliate integrations, working closely with API and CMS teams to understand publishing workflows and content distribution technologies.
Manage and support internal monetization systems, including listings platforms (Obituaries, Legal Notices) and 1PAD activation, playing a key role in operationalizing first-party data capabilities in partnership with Data Engineering.
Support and assist in the ongoing management of content and audience analytics solutions, partnering with Data and Analytics teams to ensure accurate reporting, data pipelines, and actionable insights for monetization and content performance.
Contribute to solution engineering and sales engineering efforts by supporting technical evaluations, implementations, and optimization of content, monetization, syndication, and licensing partnerships.
Own functional and user-based testing, quality assurance, and solution validation efforts, ensuring monetization and content platforms meet performance, reliability, and revenue expectations.
Monitor and own product performance data through reporting and stakeholder engagement to surface insights, identify optimization opportunities, and improve overall product performance and customer satisfaction.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
3–5 years of experience in technical product management or a comparable role supporting digital, media, or revenue platforms.
Working knowledge of CMS platforms and digital publishing workflows, including content creation, distribution, and syndication.
Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, and system integrations in partnership with engineering teams.
Familiarity with content, audience, or revenue analytics solutions, including tools such as GA4 or custom reporting platforms.
Understanding of first-party data and CDPs, including activation, segmentation, and data governance concepts.
Proven experience operating in Agile environments, including backlog management, sprint planning, testing, and release coordination (JIRA/Confluence).
Ability to support solution and sales engineering efforts, translating technical capabilities for internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across Product, Engineering, Data, Editorial, Revenue, and Sales teams.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $115,000 and $135,000. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications, and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and, based on the role, may be applicable.
