About Virtualitics
Virtualitics is the category leader in AI-native readiness applications for defense, government, and critical infrastructure. Founded on a decade of Caltech research in partnership with NASA/JPL, we are led by scientists, strategists, and servicemembers united by a single mission: to solve the world’s most complex, mission-critical challenges with AI.
Our Readiness AI solutions deliver operational certainty — giving leaders and operators a clear picture of what’s ready, what’s at risk, and what to do next. By identifying risks early, diagnosing root causes, and recommending prioritized actions with transparent, explainable AI, we help organizations move from data complexity to decision advantage.
Behind that impact is relentless innovation. Inventors at heart, we hold 15+ U.S. patents and are leading the shift toward agent-driven readiness. But what truly sets us apart is our culture — relentless about results, grounded in transparency, and driven by compassion for the mission and the people it serves.
If you’re motivated by impact, inspired by technical depth, and ready to build AI that performs where it matters most — you’ll find your mission here.
Own ambiguous, loosely scoped design problems end to end across multiple concurrent projects with minimal direction.
Serve as the primary design point of contact on engagements: shaping UX heavily at kickoff, then transitioning ownership to the project team as the work matures.
Define interaction patterns for agent-driven experiences, including how users interact with agents, how responses are structured, how follow-on actions chain, and how errors surface consistently across deployments.
Leverage and extend our design system and component library, strengthening the patterns that PMs and engineers compose from every day.
Establish design prototypes with Product Managers in Figma, Claude, or code that set the design framework a project team inherits.
Lead UX reviews of features, agent responses, generated UI, and layouts ensuring a high quality output before shipping.
Use workflows, journey maps, and service mapping to ground your rationale and bring cross-functional partners along.
Help shape scope, timelines, and cross-functional alignment with Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success.
Mentor less experienced designers and raise the standard of critique.
5-8 years of product design experience with a track record of shipping well-designed products.
Portfolio of three or more case studies or highlighted projects showing complex problem-solving, mid-project adjustments, and cross-functional collaboration.
Figma proficiency, including component-driven architecture, variables, and interactive prototypes.
Track record of taking ownership of ambiguous problems without being handed a spec.
Sophisticated design and interaction craft, with UX, UI, visual, and accessibility fundamentals accounted for at each interaction.
Design system extension and growth.
Application of relevant concepts and best practices to support your rationale, using workflows and mapping to justify design decisions.
Comfort operating independently as the design lead on a project with minimal oversight.
Willingness to reflect on past projects and articulate what you would do differently.
Experience designing AI-native, agentic, or conversational products.
Experience with data-dense enterprise or analytics products where the interface has to make complexity legible.
Experience operating as a shared resource across multiple concurrent teams.
Fluency with AI tools such as Claude and Figma Make as part of your everyday design and prototyping practice.
Working knowledge of front-end concepts such as components, tokens, states, and responsive behavior, sufficient to prototype and set technical direction with engineers.
Experience working in defense, government, or critical infrastructure environments.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Interaction design for conversational and agent-driven interfaces
Design system extension, governance, and documentation
Prototyping in code or with AI tooling to pressure-test ideas quickly
Journey mapping, and workflow analysis
Accessibility (WCAG) applied in practice
Facilitate design critique, and mentoring other Product Designers
Strong communication skills to align with stakeholders
