SR Node.js Developer – APAC (Canadian Night Shift Coverage)

What this Journey Looks Like

We are looking for a Senior Node.js Developer to join our team supporting a leading Canadian fintech organization. This role is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications in a mission-critical financial environment.

As a Senior Node.js Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services that power payment processing, financial transactions, and customer-facing platforms. You will collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, DevOps Engineers, and other development teams to deliver reliable and secure solutions that serve millions of users and transactions.

What You'll Lead and Build

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and microservices using Node.js.

• Build secure, high-performance APIs and integrations for fintech and payment-related systems.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and enhancements.

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following industry best practices.

• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.

• Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in collaboration with SRE and support teams.

• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.

• Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.

• Support agile development processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Bring to the Table

Location: APAC Region (Remote)
Schedule: Aligned with Canadian overnight operations (APAC daytime hours)

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.

• 4+ years of hands-on experience developing applications with Node.js.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.

• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven systems.

• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.

• Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Redis.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with Docker and containerized application development.

• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and modern software delivery pipelines.

• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in distributed teams.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Must be located in the APAC region and available to work during Canadian overnight hours.
