Sr Medical Science Liaison - Central/Southeast Region

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific professional responsible for developing and maintaining long-term scientific relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and other healthcare professionals. The Senior MSL serves as a scientific resource, provides scientific exchange and medical education, supports clinical development and research activities, and partners with cross-functional teams to provide insights that help inform medical strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Independently develops and maintains long-term, strategic scientific relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Independently develops and executes strategic engagement plans for key opinion leaders, investigators, and priority accounts within the assigned territory, aligned with Field Medical strategy and priorities. Identifies new investigators, sites, and scientific engagement opportunities.
• Conducts balanced, non-promotional scientific exchange and delivers scientific presentations and medical education to healthcare professionals.
• Independently interprets and communicates complex clinical and scientific data accurately and in a manner appropriate to the knowledge and needs of the audience.
• Identifies, analyzes, documents, and communicates actionable medical insights and competitive intelligence gathered through field interactions and scientific conferences to help inform Medical Affairs strategy.
• Supports local, regional, and national scientific meetings through key opinion leader engagement, scientific exchange, insight gathering, and congress coverage.
• Collaborates with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Translational Medicine, Medical Communications, Regulatory, and other internal teams to support Medical Affairs and clinical development objectives.
• Provides scientific support for clinical development and research activities, including strategic engagement with investigators and clinical trial sites.
• Engages in scientific discussions regarding Cyclin E1 biomarker testing, its clinical relevance, and patient identification for ongoing clinical trials.
• Supports or leads the planning and execution of local, regional and national scientific advisory boards as assigned.
• Serves as the Medical Affairs liaison for investigator-sponsored trials (IIS’s), as assigned.
• Leads assigned Field Medical projects and contributes to broader team initiatives.
• Maintains scientific and therapeutic-area expertise through ongoing professional development, review of emerging clinical data and awareness of the evolving treatment landscape.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of field activities.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills, works independently, and communicates effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Master’s degree or advanced clinical/scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, NP, PA) required, with a minimum of 5 years of biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related life sciences experience, including at least 3 years as an MSL or in a comparable Field Medical role. Oncology experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently interpret and communicate complex scientific and clinical data accurately, clearly, and in a balanced, evidence-based manner.
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain credible scientific relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ability to independently develop and execute strategic engagement plans aligned with Field Medical strategy and priorities.
• Strong working knowledge of GCP, FDA regulations, Medical Affairs compliance requirements, and applicable industry guidelines.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team.
• Requires up to 60% regional travel and limited international travel
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a vehicle to travel to clinical sites for investigator visits.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
