Job Description

The Specialty Operations Senior Consultant plays a critical role in shaping successful outcomes for highly complex reinsurance claims. In this position, you will lead the resolution and settlement of high exposure assumed reinsurance matters—including asbestos, pharmaceutical, toxic tort, environmental, sexual abuse and molestation, and other mass tort claims.
You will join a collaborative and knowledgeable Specialty Operations team where independent judgment, analytical skill, and strategic decision making are valued. This is an opportunity to influence meaningful outcomes, work with challenging and evolving legal issues, and contribute to our continued success within a highly specialized claims environment.

Interpret and apply facultative and treaty reinsurance contracts, as well as CGL, umbrella, and excess policies, to determine coverage, using underlying facts and relevant case law.
Establish accurate case reserves, leveraging cedent reporting, internal assessment, and designated authority levels; seek management approval for exposures exceeding authority.
Develop and execute action plans for the evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of reported claims.
Maintain thorough and timely documentation, ensuring claim files reflect clear reasoning, compliance with internal guidelines, and proactive communication with management.
Stay current on emerging legal trends, industry developments, and significant case law, applying this knowledge to enhance claims strategy and decision‑making.
Serve as a corporate witness or representative in litigation, arbitration, and other dispute‑resolution settings when required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
