Job Description:
Provides engineering support to customers, customer support personnel and field support staff on systems and product issues. Works with customer and company personnel to define technical problem, determine the solution and assist customer in implementing the fix.
- Contribute to the planning, designing and evaluation of new and existing computer network systems and services, including local area networks, wide area networks, intranets, and the Internet, providing analytical, technical, and administrative support.
- Implement network policies and procedures and ensure network integrity as maintenance and modification projects to existing applications are undertaken.
- Troubleshoot network issues.
- Install and upgrade network equipment and software.
- Create and maintain documentation relating to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Contribute to and document network technical support processes and procedures.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications.
- Establish voice and network standards regarding new technologies and applications.
- Monitor and test network performance and provides network performance statistics and reports.
- Serve as a technical liaison between clients, customers, and vendors resolve issues as needed.
- Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, or related discipline.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in Network engineering.
- Unix/Linux and Window Operations systems, Cisco, Checkpoint, Juniper, Network Administration.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of: Technically fluent in programming languages, including SQL, JAVA, Perl, HTML, Fortran, C/C++, etc.
- Skill in: Communication (oral, written), interpersonal, customer service skills; analytical, critical thinking skills, organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to: Prioritize workload, meet deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to work in a team environment employing a hands-on approach with colleagues at all levels of the organization. Establish and maintain effective working relationships through collaboration and respect.
