About Colombo & Hurd, PL

Colombo & Hurd, PL is a nationally recognized immigration law firm dedicated to representing professionals, investors, businesses, and families from across Latin America and around the world. Since our founding in 2006, we have grown to a global team of over 500 professionals, including more than 35 U.S.-based immigration attorneys.

Named the Top Immigration Law Firm in Central Florida by the Orlando Business Journal, we take pride in our mission to provide exceptional legal representation while advancing the cause of immigrants. Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and integrity defines who we are.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented English-to-Spanish & Portuguese Translator to join our growing global team. In this role, you'll transform our English-language content into clear, engaging, and culturally relevant Spanish and Portuguese, helping prospective clients better understand their U.S. immigration options.

You'll work across both languages to ensure consistency in terminology, tone, and quality while maintaining the accuracy of complex legal and immigration information.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced multilingual translator who takes pride in precision, understands the importance of cultural nuance, and wants to contribute to work that makes a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate English-language content into Spanish and Portuguese, including website pages, blog articles, and other marketing materials.
  • Localize content for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking audiences, ensuring natural, engaging language while preserving legal and procedural accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain a shared glossary and style guide to ensure consistent terminology, tone, and quality across both languages.
  • Collaborate with our team to determine which U.S. legal and immigration terms should remain in English or be translated or explained for clarity.
  • Review and refine all translations for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and formatting before delivery.
  • Preserve and optimize on-page SEO elements, including localized keywords, page titles, meta descriptions, and link text.
  • Proactively identify and flag unclear, outdated, or culturally inappropriate source content and recommend improvements.
  • Manage translation deliverables, track progress against project milestones, and provide weekly updates on completed work and potential challenges.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the firm's data protection and privacy standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Native or near-native written fluency in both Spanish and Portuguese, with the ability to independently produce professional-quality translations in each language.
  • Advanced English reading comprehension (C2 level or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional translation experience translating English content into both Spanish and Portuguese.
  • Experience translating legal, immigration, government, or similarly regulated content.
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances, localization best practices, and terminology consistency.
  • Portfolio or professional references demonstrating translation expertise in both language pairs.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to consistently meet deadlines and weekly deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently as a contractor, invoice for services, and sign a confidentiality agreement.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work with a prestigious and growing U.S. immigration law firm.
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the client experience during an important stage of their immigration journey.
  • Competitive compensation.
