Project Brief
We are looking for a Solutions Architect and Team Lead to serve as the technical backbone of a new Model Context Protocol (MCP) project for one of our clients in the marketing and communications industry. This is the first and most critical hire for this project — you will own architecture decisions, lead the technical team, and act as the main technical voice with the client. This role requires staying hands-on: you'll be writing code and reviewing PRs yourself, not just directing others.
Must-Haves
- Leadership — 5–6+ years of proven experience in Team Lead and Solutions Architect roles, with a track record of leading cross-functional teams through the full SDLC, while remaining hands-on with code and architecture yourself
- AI Expertise — 2–3+ years of hands-on experience in AI projects, including LLM ecosystems (OpenAI, Anthropic), orchestrators (LangChain / LangGraph), and RAG architectures
- MCP Experience — Direct hands-on experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or building agent-to-tool integration layers — this project is specifically building MCP infrastructure
- AWS Mastery — Expert-level AWS across Lambda, S3, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, SQS, Cognito, and more
- Certifications — Must hold AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent)
- Infrastructure & DevOps — Advanced Terraform (modules, remote state, multi-environment) and solid Docker containerization experience, including CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions
- Programming — Strong Python proficiency for pipelines, API development, and data processing (Java backend knowledge a plus)
- Data Architecture — Experience with Vector Databases, including index design, metadata schemas, and hybrid search
- Communication — Exceptional English communication, able to navigate executive conversations and technical deep-dives equally well
Nice to Have
- Multi-Agent Systems — Experience with agent orchestration frameworks (CrewAI, Strands, Bedrock AgentCore) beyond basic LangGraph implementation
- Industry Agnostic Experience — Background in data-driven decision-making within traditional industries such as Real Estate, Healthcare, Legal, or Marketing/Communications
- Operational Data Flows — Familiarity with data orchestration for complex business models
- Database Ecosystems — Knowledge of Snowflake, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL for robust data warehousing and orchestration
- Full-Stack Awareness — Familiarity with Angular or modern frontend frameworks to ensure smooth data coordination across the entire stack
- Legacy Systems Integration — Experience migrating or connecting data from traditional legacy systems to modern cloud environments
What You Will Do
- Architectural Ownership — Set and own the cloud-native architecture on AWS for this MCP project, ensuring scalability and security from the ground up
- Technical Team Leadership — Lead the technical team (engineers, AI specialists) building this project, staying hands-on with code and architecture decisions
- Client-Facing Technical Voice — Be the primary technical point of contact with the client, translating complex architecture decisions into clear business value
- Strategic AI Implementation — Define strategy for agentic workflows, RAG implementations, and MCP-based integrations
- Quality & Mentorship — Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and lead technical interviews to benchmark talent as the team scales
Why This Could Be Your Next Big Move
- 🧠 Own the technical foundation of a new project — You'll be the first and most important technical hire, shaping the architecture and team from day one.
- 🤖 AI at the core of everything — Agentic workflows, RAG, MCP integrations, vector search — you'll be designing systems at the frontier of what's possible with AI today.
- 🚀 Work directly with the Founder and technical leadership — High-trust, high-ownership role with direct exposure to product strategy and company-level technical decisions.
- 🌱 Build the team as you lead it — You'll have a say in who gets hired and how engineering culture evolves as the project and team scale. Strong performance opens the door to leading future projects across our portfolio.
Benefits & Compensation
- 💵 $6,000–$7,000/month — paid in USD, bi-weekly via Deel
- 🌎 Fully Remote — work from anywhere during 9am–5pm EST
- 📄 Full-time contractor role, tied initially to this specific client project, with strong potential to transition to other projects based on performance
- 🏖️ Paid PTO — accrual starts after a 3-month trial period
- 🤝 Referral Program — earn a bonus for referring talent that gets hired
