The role is for an assistant within the Property Risks and Coverage team.  Day to day this will mean splitting time between assisting the partner and more senior figures within the team on large and complex disputes and managing a personal case load.  The work will involve a variety of claims arising in a range of commercial and domestic settings and will include liability, recovery and indemnity disputes.  The role would suit a person who has experience / interest in delictual and contractual disputes and litigated work. 

The work handled by the successful applicant will include the following

• Running their own case load of pre and post-litigation property damage files Adhering to court deadlines and managing files in accordance with court timetables
• Conduct of Court hearings
• Instructing experts
• Instructing and working with Counsel
• Carrying out detailed reviews of quantum
• Liaising with clients/other insurers/third parties
• Liaising with policyholders and witnesses
• Negotiating settlements
• Drafting pleadings/court documents
• Assisting other file handlers with their case loads
• Any other tasks as they arise to efficiently run their caseload

Working Hours  
35 hours per week
Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.
Primary location for this role is home working.  The office location is Glasgow.

• Experience of handling pre and post-litigation damages claims
• Experience of insurer funded property damage work
• Experience of conducting court hearings up to and including Proofs
• Experience of drafting court documents and understanding of processes
