A confidential, high-growth SaaS company operating in the legal technology space is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to serve as a senior individual contributor and thought partner across product, operations, and leadership. This role is highly visible and strategic, responsible for shaping how data informs product direction, client outcomes, and operational decision-making.
As the Principal Data Analyst, you will own complex analytics initiatives end-to-end—translating large, multi-source datasets into clear insights, scalable reporting, and decision-ready dashboards. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to ensure data is accurate, trusted, and embedded into how the organization builds and scales its SaaS platform.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the senior analytics leader for core SaaS product initiatives, influencing roadmap decisions through data and insights
- Design, build, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards that provide visibility into product performance, client outcomes, and operational metrics
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to analyze large, relational datasets across multiple systems and integrations
- Partner with product and engineering teams to define metrics, success criteria, and analytics requirements for new features and platform enhancements
- Lead data modeling efforts to ensure consistency, scalability, and accuracy across reporting and analytics layers
- Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches and clear recommendations
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the data and proactively surface insights to senior stakeholders
- Establish and improve best practices around data quality, validation, documentation, and governance
- Mentor junior analysts and act as a go-to resource for advanced analytics and reporting questions
What You’ll Bring
- 9+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field, with senior or principal-level ownership
- Strong experience supporting SaaS products, ideally in complex or data-heavy environments
- Advanced proficiency in SQL (data extraction, transformation, performance optimization)
- Deep hands-on experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and executive-level dashboards
- Proven ability to partner with product managers, engineers, and business leaders to drive data-informed decisions
- Experience working with large, multi-source datasets and integrated systems
- Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- High attention to detail and a strong bias toward data accuracy and integrity
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, scaling environments with evolving requirements
Compensation
- $180,000 – $200,000 base salary
- Full remote (U.S.-based only)
