Software Engineer in Test

About the role:

As a Software Engineer in Test II at PDQ, you'll be a key member of the QA and test automation team responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of ISL Online's desktop products: ISL Light, ISL AlwaysOn, and ISL Conference Proxy. You’ll work together with desktop application developers to design, build, and maintain automated test suites that keep our Windows and macOS applications running smoothly for IT teams around the world. This is a role where you'll have real ownership over test quality from day one.

How you might spend your day:

• Developing, maintaining, and expanding automated test suites using Python, Selenium, Appium, and FlaUI WebDriver for Windows and macOS desktop UI automation.
• Running and triaging end-to-end and regression test runs across Windows, macOS and Linux environments, investigating failures and fixing flaky tests.
• Managing and maintaining test infrastructure using Vagrant/Packer-managed VMs and Docker-based test agents.
• Contributing to CI/CD pipelines in Atlassian Bamboo and Bitbucket (and soon GitHub Actions), keeping automated test runs stable and reliable.
• Writing API and integration tests to validate behavior across components of the ISL Online platform.
• Participating in manual test planning for new features, translating test scenarios into
• automated coverage.
• Collaborating closely with desktop app developers to understand new features, identify edge cases, and review testability early in the development cycle.

We're looking for people who have:

Must Have:

• 1+ years of experience in software testing or QA engineering (junior candidates are very welcome).
• Proficiency in Python for writing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test scripts.
• Hands-on experience with Selenium and/or Appium for UI test automation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and working in automated build and test pipelines.
• Basic scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Bash for test environment setup and tooling.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to write clear, maintainable test code.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with FlaUI WebDriver or other Windows desktop UI automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with Go programming language.
• Experience with API or integration testing.
• Exposure to Docker for containerized test environments or Vagrant/Packer for VM management.
• Familiarity with performance or security testing concepts.
