Your job

The Smart Sourcing team’s mission is to empower employers to quickly discover and connect with top talent through innovative search and matching technology. We build and maintain the core product that enables employers to source candidates effectively, using modern technologies in a Java, React, and microservice-based architecture.

As an engineer on the team, you will empower the employers by developing and optimizing features that enable talent management and make their hiring process efficient. Your work will directly influence how employers manage and communicate with candidates across different stages of hiring while giving you the opportunity to work with modern tools and patterns at scale.

Our systems are large-scale and high-performance. You will work alongside highly skilled software engineers, data scientists, and product scientists, and you will frequently collaborate with teams across the organization to deliver critical projects.

Who you are

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance software systems
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design, validating solutions through data and experimentation where appropriate
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards
• Own and support applications during business hours, ensuring system health and reliability
• Use metrics, logging, and analytics to make data-informed decisions and improve system performance
• Collaborate closely with partners across engineering, product, data science, and design to deliver solutions
• Contribute to cross-team initiatives and support the growth of other engineers through mentorship and knowledge sharing

Who we are

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience in full stack development with a solid focus on both front-end and back-end technologies.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks such as React or similar frameworks.
• Proficiency in one or more modern backend programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, or similar).
• Experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance, and resilient systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Curiosity and a willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.

Salary Range Disclaimer

The salary range for this role reflects the minimum and maximum compensation for the role. Offers are typically made between the range minimum and the range midpoint. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), a Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
