Purpose of the Role

The Social Media & Multimedia Content Officer leads the organisation's day-to-day social media presence by creating compelling, timely and visually engaging digital content that showcases the impact of our work for children in Gaza. 

The role also supports wider organisational communications through newsletters, website content, reports, presentations and other branded communications materials. 

The role focuses on content creation and digital storytelling, enabling the Communications Manager to lead communications strategy, campaigns, media relations, reputation management and organisational messaging


Key Responsibilities

Social media management 

  • Manage the organisation's day-to-day social media channels.  
  • Plan, create, schedule and publish engaging content across all platforms.  
  • Monitor engagement, audience trends and platform performance.  
  • Identify opportunities to grow reach, engagement and community.  
  • Monitor and respond to direct messages and enquiries across the organisation's social media channels, escalating enquiries where appropriate. 

 

Content creation 

  • Create compelling written, visual and multimedia content for social media.  
  • Produce platform-specific content including posts, reels, stories, carousels, infographics and short-form video.  
  • Repurpose reports, programme updates and field stories into engaging digital content.  
  • Develop thought leadership content for senior leaders and organisational spokespeople.  
  • Write and produce the organisation's bi-weekly internal newsletters.  
  • Prepare and distribute the organisation's monthly external newsletters.  
  • Prepare and format organisational, donor and partner communications in line with the organisation's branding and style guidelines. 

 

Video and visual production 

  • Edit short-form video for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube Shorts and other digital platforms.  
  • Design engaging graphics, social media templates, quote cards and campaign assets.  
  • Create visually compelling carousels that simplify complex humanitarian issues. 
     
  • Work with photographers and videographers to maximise the use of multimedia assets.  
  • Design reports, presentations, infographics and other branded communications materials. 

 

Story gathering and digital storytelling 

  • Work closely with programme teams to identify powerful stories from the field.  
  • Interview colleagues and gather content from country offices and partners.  
  • Transform programme information into compelling digital stories that support fundraising, advocacy and public engagement.  

 

Website and Digital Platforms  

  • Update and maintain website content using WordPress and Elementor 
  • Create, edit and publish website content, ensuring pages are accurateaccessible and up to date.  
  • Support updates to programme pages, campaign landing pages and other digital content.

 

Campaign support 

  • Develop multimedia content to support campaigns, appeals and advocacy initiatives.  
  • Produce social media assets for key moments and humanitarian emergencies.  
  • Work with the Communications Manager to translate strategic messaging into engaging digital content.  
  • Support fundraising, advocacy and organisational communications campaigns through high-quality digital content. 

 

Monitoring and reporting 

  • Monitor social media performance and prepare regular analytics reports.  
  • Identify audience insights and content opportunities.


Person Specification
Essential Skills 

  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills. 
  • Proven experience managing organisational social media channels. 
  • Strong visual storytelling skills with experience creating graphics, carousels and digital assets. 
  • Experience editing short-form video and multimedia content. 
  • Proficiency with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (or equivalent creative tools). 
  • Experience using WordPress, Elementor or other content management systems. 
  • Experience designing reports, presentations, newsletters and other branded communications materials. 
  • Experience using email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or similar. 
  • Understanding of platform-specific content for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X and YouTube. 
  • Ability to translate complex humanitarian issues into accessible, engaging content. 
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. 

  Desirable 

  • Experience in humanitarian, international development or non-profit communications, specifically the Gaza cause. 
  • Understanding of child safeguarding and ethical storytelling.  
  • Photography or videography experience.  
  • Experience using AI tools to support content creation, editing and design.  
  • Knowledge of social media analytics and digital optimisation.  
  • Arabic language skills.
