The engineer will design and implement Snowflake-centric integration and transformation patterns to replace legacy Informatica workloads. They will also evaluate and optimize Snowflake-native processing, dbt, and Openflow to ensure efficient performance and cost management.
We are looking for a hands-on Snowflake engineer/architect capable of designing and implementing integration and transformation patterns that can replace appropriate Informatica PowerCenter workloads.
The role will evaluate when workloads should use Snowflake-native processing, dbt, Openflow or adjacent Snowflake capabilities rather than an external integration platform.
Key Responsibilities
Assess Informatica workloads proposed for migration into the Snowflake ecosystem.
Design Snowflake-centric ingestion, transformation and orchestration patterns.
Implement representative migration POCs.
Design patterns for:
File-to-Snowflake ingestion
Database-to-Snowflake ingestion
Snowflake-to-file processing
Database/data movement
Batch processing
Micro-batch processing
ELT transformations
Evaluate and implement Snowflake Openflow where appropriate.
Develop transformation workloads using dbt.
Develop Snowflake-native processing using relevant platform capabilities.
Optimize workloads for performance, concurrency and consumption cost.
Design error handling, restart/recovery, reconciliation and observability.
Support approximately 15-minute micro-batch processing scenarios where appropriate.
Evaluate when processing should remain within Snowflake instead of routing through MuleSoft or another middleware layer.
Participate in architecture reviews and document reusable implementation patterns.
Provide implementation effort and steady-state operating-cost inputs.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on Snowflake engineering experience.
Advanced SQL skills.
Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and performance characteristics.
Experience with:
Snowflake ingestion patterns
Tasks
Streams
Stored procedures
Snowpark or equivalent Snowflake-native development
File formats and stages
Data sharing
Security and role design
Strong hands-on dbt experience.
Experience designing production-grade batch and micro-batch processing.
Strong understanding of data orchestration, monitoring and recovery.
Experience optimizing Snowflake consumption and warehouse sizing.
Strongly Preferred
Hands-on experience with Snowflake Openflow.
Experience migrating workloads from Informatica PowerCenter.
Experience with CDC/data replication technologies.
Python development experience.
Experience with message/event-driven integration.
Experience with Salesforce/Snowflake integration or Salesforce Data Cloud.
Experience implementing CI/CD for Snowflake and dbt workloads.
Experience Level
7-10+ years in data engineering, with at least 4-5 years of significant Snowflake implementation experience.
