You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and improving production smart contracts and their surrounding tooling on the Solana blockchain. This involves reviewing code for security and correctness, as well as integrating smart contract changes with off-chain services and SDKs.
Kamino's mission is to create liquidity and utility for every asset. We want the world's best investments to be available through the financial platforms people already trust, and we want investors to be able to borrow against what they own when they need liquidity, instead of having to sell.
Today, the most valuable assets in the world are often the least useful to own. Trillions of dollars sit in private markets, behind high minimums and holding periods that can run for years. Tokenization is starting to move these assets onto shared, programmable infrastructure, but putting an asset onchain is only the first step. To be useful, it still needs distribution, compliance, servicing, credit and liquidity.
Kamino already runs the credit and liquidity engine at scale. It is the largest credit protocol on Solana and the largest credit platform for real-world assets onchain, with more than $650 billion in cumulative transaction volume and more than $20 billion in loans originated.
Now we are building the rest of that system for institutions. Kamino recently named Yieldstreet co-founder Michael Weisz as CEO and is building a new HQ in New York, alongside the asset managers and financial platforms that will shape this market. Almost none of that market exists yet, and we intend to build it.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building, maintaining, reviewing, and improving production smart contracts and their surrounding tooling. The ideal candidate is autonomous, quality-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, and interested in technically demanding protocol work.
We hire engineers who love their craft, work fluently with AI, and understand software deeply. Across every engineering role, we look for:
Seniority: real judgment and high mileage — engineers who have seen many systems break, and know why.
Strong fundamentals: types, memory, concurrency, distributed systems — and opinions about all of them.
Builders: people who love to build and tinker, and who ship.
Quality-oriented: unwilling to ship careless, fragile, or poorly understood code; pragmatic about balancing speed, maintainability, and security in production.
AI-native: uses modern AI-assisted tooling effectively — to move faster, understand more code, and raise the quality of testing and review.
Building new protocol features in Solana smart contracts.
Maintaining, refactoring, and improving existing on-chain programs.
Reviewing code with a strong focus on correctness, maintainability, and security.
Analyzing audit and security reports, and implementing or reviewing fixes.
Integrating smart contract changes with off-chain services, SDKs, clients, and developer tooling.
This is not a tokenomics, risk-modeling, or protocol economics role. The focus is engineering implementation, code quality, and smart contract correctness.
Prior Solana experience is a strong plus, but not an absolute requirement: a strong Rust engineer with low-level experience and a serious interest in crypto may be a good fit, as may an experienced EVM developer willing to ramp up on Solana and Rust.
The strongest candidates will usually have some combination of:
Production Rust experience.
Solana program development, or smart contract / protocol development on other chains.
Experience with DeFi: lending, liquidity, vaults, derivatives, or financial infrastructure.
Strong low-level engineering instincts.
Experience with security-sensitive or correctness-critical software, including responding to audit findings.
Ability to read, reason about, and modify complex existing codebases.
Strong code review habits, attention to edge cases, and robust tests for complex systems.
Understanding of both on-chain and off-chain integration constraints.
A senior Rust engineer interested in moving into Solana smart contract development.
A Solana engineer with production protocol experience.
An EVM smart contract engineer willing to work seriously with Rust and Solana.
A backend or systems engineer with strong low-level skills, high code quality standards, and a serious interest in blockchain.
A security-minded engineer who enjoys reasoning about edge cases and correctness.
