About the Role
Seeking.com is the world’s largest premium dating platform, and we are entering the most important chapter of our brand transformation. We are looking for an SEO & Content Specialist to own the day-to-day execution of Seeking’s organic content engine end to end as a hands-on operator: hand-editing HTML for on-page SEO, writing and shipping content, coordinating outside partners, and applying the tactics that earn brand visibility across traditional search, AI Overviews, and answer engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity.
This role is open at two levels: SEO & Content Specialist and SEO & Content Strategist. Level and placement in the salary band are determined by experience, depth in on-page SEO and content execution, and demonstrated ownership of end-to-end organic wins. The role is the same shape at both levels; the Strategist level carries broader scope, more autonomy, and higher expectations on discovery strategy, cross-channel synthesis, and mentorship.
This role may also be a fit for candidates whose current title is SEO Specialist, SEO Analyst, Content Marketing Specialist, Content Strategist, Organic Growth Specialist, SEO Copywriter, Editorial SEO Manager, Content SEO Manager, or Digital Marketing Specialist. If your day-to-day is writing content, editing HTML on the page, and moving pages up the SERP and into AI answers, you should apply regardless of your current title.
You will edit the HTML, write the content, brief the vendors, read the numbers, and rewrite the plan by Friday. You will report to the Director of Growth & Lifecycle Marketing and partner closely with Creative, Brand, Product, Data & Analytics, and outside agency and freelance partners.
Let’s be direct: we are not looking for a strategist who briefs the work to an agency and waits for the deck. We tried that and got senior operators who could not sit down and ship an on-page fix themselves. This role is for a builder who can log into the CMS in week one, audit how Seeking shows up across every surface that matters, hand-edit a page for on-page SEO, publish a piece of content, and coordinate an agency deliverable — all by the end of week two. If that is you, keep reading.
What You’ll Own
On-Page & Technical SEO Execution
- Edit HTML and CMS templates directly to implement on-page SEO best practices: title tags, meta descriptions, header hierarchy (H1–H3), schema and structured data, internal linking, image alt text, and clean URL structure.
- Run routine technical SEO health checks (crawlability, indexation, page speed basics, broken links, redirects) and either fix them yourself or coordinate the fix.
- Maintain WordPress-based properties (Seeking blog, STNDRDS, and adjacent brands), keeping HTML clean, semantic, and shippable.
- Implement structured data, schema markup, and entity tagging so search engines and AI answer engines can read and cite the page correctly.
Content Writing & Editorial Execution
- Write, edit, and publish organic content — blog posts, landing pages, FAQs, category pages, and pillar hubs — aligned to defined content pillars and audience segments.
- Ship content directly when speed, voice, or judgment require it. You are a writer as much as a strategist.
- Contribute to and help maintain the editorial calendar across owned channels, and align it with brand campaigns, product launches, and cultural moments.
- Identify content gaps, refresh opportunities, and topical authority angles, and turn them into published assets.
- Develop entity-driven content strategies that give AI systems clear, authoritative, structured answers so Seeking is the source they cite.
Discoverability Across Search, AI Overviews, and Answer Engines
- Run keyword research, intent expansion, and competitive discovery analysis using GA4, Search Console, SEMrush, and Ahrefs to inform content and on-page decisions.
- Structure content and markup to earn visibility on AI-powered discovery surfaces, including AI Overviews, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
- Increase brand presence across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and the next wave of LLM-powered discovery surfaces, using clear, extractable, citation-ready formatting.
- Stay current on emerging discoverability tactics and bring practical, tested recommendations back to the team.
External Partner & Vendor Coordination
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for external agency and freelance partners supporting content, SEO, and production work.
- Manage deliverable timelines, feedback loops, and quality checks for agency-produced content and SEO work. Hold the line on scope, brief, and quality.
- Bring in outside skill where it makes the work better, but stay hands-on enough that no partner can outrun your understanding of the actual work.
Reporting & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Track and report on the small set of KPIs that matter (organic traffic, rankings, indexation, engagement, and AI-search visibility) on a weekly and monthly cadence.
- Translate performance data into next-cycle priorities. Flag risks early and route them to the right internal team.
- Partner with Creative, Brand, Product, Legal, and other marketing functions to ship content and on-page changes on schedule and on-brand.
- Support ad hoc organic growth initiatives (for example, reputation and review monitoring) as directed.
Required Qualifications (Both Levels)
- Hands-on SEO and content experience at a consumer brand — ideally a consumer subscription, marketplace, mobile-first, or dating/social platform — with published work and measurable results you can point to.
- Working fluency in HTML and CSS, sufficient to make on-page SEO edits directly in a CMS. You can open the source, fix the header hierarchy, correct the schema, and publish without waiting on a developer.
- Strong grasp of traditional SEO fundamentals: on-page optimization, keyword research, internal linking, and technical basics (crawlability, indexation, page speed, structured data).
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format across blog, landing page, FAQ, and category content.
- Working fluency in AEO and GEO. You understand schema markup, structured data, brand-entity strategy, and how AI answer engines choose which sources to cite. You have a point of view on which signals matter and which are noise.
- Hands-on experience with GA4, Search Console, and at least one paid SEO platform (SEMrush, Ahrefs, or comparable). You read your own analytics.
- Working knowledge of WordPress sufficient to maintain and update production pages, and light front-end fluency to read and adjust HTML, CSS, and component-level changes when needed.
- AI fluency. You already use ChatGPT, Claude, Cowork, or similar in your daily workflow to research, draft, structure, and QA content, and to replace work you used to do by hand. If someone has to explain to you why AI matters, this role is not for you.
- Ready to run on day one. You can audit how Seeking shows up across search and AI surfaces, identify what is broken, and ship a fix in week one.
- Operator’s discipline. You ship on time, your QA is tight, your naming and metadata are clean, and you document what you did.
Level & Experience
SEO & Content Specialist
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in SEO, content, or organic growth at a consumer brand or agency serving consumer brands.
- Practical track record of hand-editing pages, publishing content, and moving pages up the SERP with results you can walk through.
- Owns execution end-to-end across on-page SEO, content writing, and agency coordination. Contributes to editorial calendar and discovery priorities with the Director.
SEO & Content Strategist
- 4 to 7+ years of hands-on experience in SEO and content, ideally including time at a consumer subscription business, DTC brand, or category-defining consumer brand.
- Proven track record leading organic growth programs that combine on-page execution, editorial planning, and AI-search visibility, with measurable business impact.
- Owns both execution and strategy. Sets the discovery roadmap, drives the editorial calendar, and can defend a prioritization call to the Director and CMO.
- Comfortable owning or contributing to an editorial calendar across multiple content channels, and directing agency and freelance partners at scope.
- Mentors and reviews. Comfortable being the go-to reviewer for on-page work, content quality, and discovery strategy as the function scales.
- Direct experience optimizing for zero-click results, featured snippets, AI Overviews, and answer-engine citations at a consumer brand.
Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience considered.
- A portfolio of published SEO or content work with measurable results (traffic lift, ranking gains, or AI-answer citations you can point to).
- Direct experience partnering with or working inside an outside marketing, SEO, or content agency, including day-to-day vendor management.
- Experience leading or supporting a CMS migration, particularly off WordPress onto a more automated or AI-native publishing stack.
- Familiarity with leading or contributing to a structured AEO/GEO program, not just executing within one.
- Exposure to reputation and review programs (Trustpilot, Glassdoor, app stores) including request flows and structured response operations.
- Interest in dating, lifestyle, or consumer subscription brands, and a real point of view on how AI is changing the way people search for and choose them.
Cultural Fit: Who Thrives Here
Be honest with yourself about whether this is your environment:
- You build. You do not wait. You see a manual workflow and you turn it into a system.
- You hold yourself to outcomes. You report your numbers without being asked.
- You are comfortable in ambiguity, and you find your own next problem when one is solved.
- You take feedback well, and you give it directly.
- You bring a point of view, and you change it when the evidence does.
- You care about how Seeking shows up in the world, and you take that responsibility seriously.
- You sell on opportunity, not comforts. You are here to build the organic engine for the category, not to clock hours.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $75,000 to $115,000, commensurate with experience and level. The lower half of the band anchors the SEO & Content Specialist level; the upper half anchors the SEO & Content Strategist level.
- Performance and outcome-dependent incentive plan, with profit share tied to demonstrated value creation. Details shared with finalists.
- Full-time, exempt, fully remote within the US.
- Health, dental, vision, 401(k), and a standard benefits package.
- Direct exposure to the Director, CMO, and Co-CEOs from day one.
- Clear growth path to Senior SEO & Content Strategist, Content Lead, or Manager scope as ownership and results grow, judged on outcomes, not tenure.
Strong candidates will be invited to complete a short paid take-home exercise (auditing a live Seeking page and drafting an on-page and discovery plan for it) before any final-round interviews.
