Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Staff Supplier Manufacturing Engineer

This is a telecommuter role and supports the Sentinel program.

What you’ll get to do:

Goal: 
This position will ensure key suppliers supporting the Sentinel program successfully transition from Engineering Manufacturing and Development (EMD) to Production.
 Inputs:
This role will interface directly with suppliers and coordinate cross-functionally among Program Management, Supplier Management Teams, Industrial Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering. Risk and opportunities within Strategic and critical suppliers will be identified through a combination of monthly status reviews and on-site assessments of production capability and scalability.
 Outputs:
The Team-Member will analyze manufacturing risks and opportunities to ensure quality, cost, and schedule targets are met and planned for. Progress and risk reporting will be framed in Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) and take place across the entire product lifecycle with the intent of establishing a production ready supply base.
 Skills:
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Manufacturing Readiness Levels, Manufacturing Modeling and Simulation, excellent written/verbal communication skills, and experience with transitioning a program from Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) to Production.

This position may require up to 25% travel to suppliers and NG partners. Up to 50% travel may be required on an as-needed basis.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications:
• 12 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD in a STEM degree.

• Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period as determined by the company to meet its business need.
• Demonstrated success working cross-functionally and within multi-disciplinary teams. 
• Experience interfacing directly with suppliers
• Experience in gauging supplier readiness through a structured framework
• Possess a comprehensive background in aerospace, defense, or related manufacturing
• Experience in reviewing bills of materials, engineering designs, and GD&T
• Experience with design reviews, process control documentation, work instructions, and reviewing engineering drawings.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with manufacturing management utilizing manufacturing plans and process instructions
• Experience with assessing supplier production capacity and Manufacturing Modeling and Simulation 
• Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Levels and DoD Manufacturing Readiness Level Deskbook 
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects requiring cross functional teams. 
• Understanding of the acquisition lifecycle and associated Major Program Events
• Previous experience on an Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) program and transitioning to Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP)
• Leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to guide junior team-members
• Skilled in summarizing and explaining technical documentation, specifications and industry requirements to ensure compliance.
• Experience collaborating with Supplier Management Teams
• Proven track record of monitoring KPIs to drive execution.
• Experience influencing change across team boundaries.
• Understanding of Lean Six Sigma and exposure to continuous improvement and RCCA
• Experience with tooling/equipment check-out and qualification
• Experience with Risk and Opportunities management systems
 

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,300.00 - $219,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
