DNI is seeking a SAN Administrator to support the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Background Investigations Enterprise System (BIES) Mainframe program. This position supports the availability, performance, security, and recoverability of enterprise storage environments supporting mission-critical mainframe and distributed systems.

The SAN Administrator will configure, monitor, troubleshoot, document, and improve storage infrastructure across SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, tape, backup, and related virtualization environments. The position works closely with mainframe, distributed systems, cybersecurity, network, VMware, backup, and government teams.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and manage enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN) arrays and associated storage resources.
  • Configure and manage Fibre Channel switches, zoning, connectivity, and switch configuration backups.
  • Configure and manage Network Attached Storage (NAS), disk, tape, virtual tape, and related storage devices.
  • Provision, expand, migrate, mirror, and decommission storage in accordance with approved procedures and change controls.
  • Support storage connectivity for IBM mainframe, VMware, Windows, and Linux environments.
  • Monitor storage health, capacity, utilization, performance, alerts, and availability; identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Administer and troubleshoot enterprise backup, recovery, replication, journaling, and disaster-recovery capabilities.
  • Validate backup operations, investigate failures, perform restores when required, and maintain recovery documentation.
  • Support data-center technology refreshes, storage migrations, hardware replacements, and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with vendors and government technical personnel to diagnose hardware, firmware, connectivity, and performance issues.
  • Apply security, encryption, certificate, configuration, and STIG-related requirements to storage infrastructure.
  • Support vulnerability remediation, audit requests, compliance evidence, and security documentation for storage systems.
  • Create and maintain technical procedures, storage diagrams, configuration records, bills of materials, solution documents, and standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare capacity-planning reports, incident-management ticket reports, storage project summaries, and other contract or customer deliverables.
  • Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and changes using approved IT service-management and change-control processes.
  • Participate in planned maintenance windows, scheduled upgrades, testing, validation, and on-call support as required by mission needs.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to minimize service interruptions and maintain system availability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the DCSA BIES mission.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification
  • 7 + years of demonstrated experience administering enterprise storage or SAN environments.
  • Hands-on experience with SAN arrays, Fibre Channel switching, zoning, LUN or volume provisioning, and storage connectivity.
  • Experience supporting backup, restore, replication, mirroring, or disaster-recovery operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot storage, virtualization, networking, hardware, and performance issues in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management, change control, incident management, and operational validation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NetApp, VMware, Cisco UCS, Fibre Channel fabrics, enterprise tape or virtual tape libraries, and enterprise backup platforms.
  • Experience supporting IBM mainframe-attached storage, DASD, FICON, or z/OS storage environments.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, RMF, NIST security controls, vulnerability-management processes, and security audit artifacts.
