You will design and scale backend services, data pipelines, and AI-powered infrastructure to coordinate manufacturing supply chain workflows. Additionally, you will own backend incident response and establish observability practices to ensure system reliability.
Join the platform team at an early-stage AI and manufacturing supply chain company. You will build the backend services, data pipelines, and integrations that coordinate AI-powered agents and transactions across manufacturing workflows, helping ensure physical goods move reliably through complex operations.
Design and scale backend services using Next.js API routes, background jobs, and serverless functions for high-throughput order processing.
Build and productionize LLM-based agents, AI/ML infrastructure, and RAG patterns for quote analysis and supplier recommendations.
Design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and complex queries for materials, quotes, orders, and supplier relationships.
Build event-driven pipelines for order state management, notifications, and cross-system synchronization.
Implement caching, rate limiting, and reliability strategies for external API calls.
Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability practices, and own backend incident response.
At least 5 years of production experience building backend services, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure.
Professional TypeScript experience, with recent hands-on work using Next.js and direct web development experience.
Experience designing transactional systems with ACID guarantees, exactly-once processing, and idempotent APIs.
Hands-on AI development or AI DevOps experience, including NLP or ML pipelines for extracting information from unstructured documents, such as OCR workflows.
Experience building or productionizing LLM-based agents, working with agentic frameworks, or implementing RAG patterns.
Strong PostgreSQL and relational database skills, plus experience with event-driven systems, queues, or reliable data pipelines.
Experience integrating ERP systems and third-party APIs, including legacy or poorly documented interfaces.
Experience with monitoring, alerting, observability, and incident response for backend systems.
Professional experience in manufacturing supply chain, procurement, or logistics, ideally in a startup or small company.
Base salary: $160,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
Remote, with a primary location in San Francisco, California, United States.
