AI Summary

The role involves designing an engaging, learner-centered vocational education model and developing high-quality curriculum, assessments, and teacher training resources. You will also lead a team to pilot these models in schools, gather field insights, and collaborate with government stakeholders to scale the program.

About Udhyam:

Udhyam Learning Foundation (Udhyam) is on a mission towards Making Bharat Entrepreneurial. We believe that entrepreneurial mindsets are a powerful way to channelize an individual’s potential as they enable agency and allow an individual to work on their strengths while creating value for the world.

Our programs:

Udhyam Shiksha works on developing entrepreneurial mindsets among youth in government schools and enabling them to achieve their potential, having impacted ~24,00,000 learners across 10 Indian states.

Udhyam Vyapaar focuses on nano businesses in India and on solving large problems faced by them, at scale; having already enabled up to a 27% income uplift for 5000+ entrepreneurs.

Udhyam Shiksha’s Program Model:

Udhyam Shiksha works in collaboration with state governments to build entrepreneurial mindsets and agency in young people through real-world, experiential learning. Our work enables learners to make choices, identify problems and opportunities, work in teams, take action, learn from feedback, improve their work, and create value for themselves and others. As Udhyam expands its work in Vocational Education, we are exploring how this entrepreneurial mindset and inquiry-to-action pedagogy can become a powerful layer within NEP/NCF-SE aligned vocational learning.

About the role:

Udhyam is building a new model of Vocational Education that brings together the intent of NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023 with Udhyam’s entrepreneurial mindset and learner-agency approach. The work will initially focus strongly on Grades 9–10 Vocational Education and teacher capacity building in Madhya Pradesh, with links to Udhyam’s broader secondary and senior-secondary work.

This is not a conventional content-writing role. We are looking for a senior education professional who can hold the academic design of the programme end-to-end: conceptualise how the learning model should work in real schools, translate policy and competencies into engaging hands-on learning, create high-quality learner and teacher resources, design competency-based assessments, build Master Trainer and teacher capacity, and learn continuously from field pilots to strengthen the model.

The person should be equally comfortable thinking at the level of curriculum architecture and sitting with teachers or students to understand whether an activity actually works. The role will work closely with Udhyam’s programme teams, state partners, teachers, principals, subject/vocational experts, training partners and technology teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Design the learning model

  • Help shape an engaging, learner-centred Vocational Education model that brings together NEP/NCF-SE and Udhyam’s Entrepreneurial Mindset approach

  • Bring creativity, fresh ideas and relevant national/international insights into the design while ensuring that the model remains practical for government-school contexts.

  1. Develop curriculum and learning resources

  • Create and contextualise curriculum, student books/workbooks, teacher handbooks and Teaching-Learning Materials for Grades 9–10.

  • Ensure that learning is hands-on, contextual and meaningful, with opportunities for students to explore, make choices, solve problems and learn through real-world work.

  1. Design & Develop assessments and related tools

  • Develop competency-based assessments that capture practical skills, problem-solving, application, reflection and learner progress.

  • Develop practical tasks, project assessments, observation tools, competency rubrics, portfolios, viva/reflection tools and written assessment items as appropriate.

  1. Build teacher and Master Trainer capability

  • Design and facilitate Training of Trainers, teacher-development modules and practical resources modeling the experiential, participatory pedagogy expected in classrooms.

  • Build processes to help Master Trainers move beyond content transmission and become strong facilitators, coaches and quality anchors for the programme.

  1. Pilot and strengthen the learning model

  • Work closely with schools, teachers and students to test the learning approach, gather feedback and improve the curriculum and implementation model.

  • Create simple mechanisms to capture implementation evidence, teacher feedback, student work and learning observations; and use these insights to continuously strengthen the curriculum design.

  1. Lead and enable the team

  • Guide and support a small team of curriculum, content and training professionals to deliver high-quality work across the programme.

  • Set clear direction, strengthen team capability, review outputs constructively, and create a collaborative culture where people can experiment, learn and continuously improve.

  1. Support implementation and scale

  • Work with Udhyam teams, government stakeholders and partners to develop model schools, strengthen academic quality and prepare the programme for wider scale.

  • Support the design of AI-enabled mentoring/teacher-support content so that digital assistance reflects the programme pedagogy and helps teachers solve real implementation challenges.

Skills, Experience and Mindsets

  • 6–10 years of relevant experience in curriculum design, learning design, teacher development, vocational education, experiential learning or related education programmes.

  • Strong ability to translate educational ideas and frameworks into simple, engaging and practical learning experiences for students and teachers.

  • Experience in developing curriculum, textbooks/workbooks, teacher resources or assessments.

  • Experience in teacher training or adult facilitation; ability to design and facilitate engaging training programmes.

  • Comfortable working directly with schools, teachers and learners, and using field insights to improve the learning model.

  • Strong conceptual thinking along with the ability to personally write, create, prototype and improve learning materials.

  • Curious, creative and open to experimentation; able to work in an evolving programme where not everything is already defined.

  • Comfortable collaborating with government teams, educators, subject experts and internal programme teams.

  • Experience in vocational education, project-based learning, entrepreneurship education or government-school systems would be an added advantage.

Location: Can be located anywhere; being in Delhi/Gurgaon/Bhopal or being able to travel frequently to Madhya Pradesh would be an added advantage.

Type: Fixed Term Full-time position (1 year, extendable based on programme needs and performance)
