Senior Software Engineer (Merchandising) (Multiple Positions)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Translate high-level business requirements into technical designs; propose design alternatives, codes and/or communicates requirements to junior engineers; develop and debug software in support of new and existing applications; develop, execute and thoroughly document unit and system-level test plans; design changes to new and existing applications; provide support for production applications; participate in Agile methodology and ceremonies; participate in code reviews and scope of work estimation and forecasting; write high-quality code that meets the customer needs and strives for simplicity, clarity and testability; provide application support, analyze problems, and provide solutions for complex issues; develop reusable software building blocks to enable faster delivery; and employ test-driven development and integrates unit tests in development tasks.

Qualifications & Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related IT or Engineering field

• 5 years of experience working in software development in an IT organization;

• 4 years of development experience using PL/SQL and shell scripting or API and UI development using Java;

• 3 years of experience delivering software supporting merchandising or supply chain related applications and with a relational database, such as Oracle, MSSQL, and Postgres;

• 1 year of experience with No-SQL databases, such as Cassandra or Mongo DB;

• Experience with a higher-level language, such as C#, Java, or Python;

• A thorough understanding of Cloud and distributed systems challenges;

• Experience working with stateful and/or stateless containers and orchestration via Kubernetes;

• Experience with distributed messaging systems, such as Kafka; and

• Strong analytical skills with experience gathering requirements and designing new functionality. 

• May work remotely 100% from a home office location anywhere in the U.S. Travel to Goodlettsville, Tennessee is not required.
