The Senior Software Engineer will use Agentic engineering to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power DemandTec’s AI-driven retail platform. This is a full-time, remote role, with flexibility to work from home, but requires coordination with multiple timezones. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing new features, optimizing existing services, reviewing code, and ensuring high performance, reliability, and security across systems. The Senior Software Engineer will collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. The role also involves mentoring team members, contributing to architecture decisions, and supporting continuous integration, testing, and deployment practices.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in Computer Science including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design
- Proficiency in Software Development leveraging Agentic engineering (Claude Code/Codex) with experience delivering production-quality products.
- We are specifically looking for product development experience rather than consulting
- Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs and microservices, and databases
- Strong Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expertise in RDBMS (preferably Postgres), Data access technologies, performance tuning, and data modeling
- Expert level in at least two of 1) C# 2) Python, and 3) Java
- Expertise in some of the following frameworks - FastAPI, Pydantic.AI, Pydantic 2, Polars, Pandas, .Net Core, Spring Boot, Enterprise Beans, Hibernate, JDBC
- Comfort with modern development and devops practices, such as CI/CD pipelines, Agentic engineering, automated testing, and version control (e.g., Git).
- Flexibility to work with different timezones, strong problem-solving abilities, collaborative mindset, and clear communication skills in cross-functional teams
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, or Engineering
- Experience in retail, pricing, or data-intensive SaaS products is a plus
