The Opportunity 

We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer to join a small development team working on large, multi-month projects across our platform. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role where you’ll take ownership of technical delivery, work closely with other developers, and help turn requirements into software that is secure, testable, and built to last. 

The role is full-stack, but leans heavily toward backend development. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on new products and AI capabilities being built directly into the Vocantas platform.  

Location: Remote 

The salary range for this role is $110,000–$125,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and location. 

What You’ll Own 

Build and deliver complex product work 

• Design and develop backend services using .NET 9 and C#, alongside frontend functionality using Vue.js or similar JavaScript frameworks. 

• Take technical ownership of significant pieces of larger projects, from design through development, testing, and delivery. 

• Break down work so it can be clearly shared across a small group of developers. 

• Build secure, reliable software for customers operating in industries where security and system reliability matter. 

Technical design and architecture 

• Apply domain-driven design and microservices principles to real product problems. 

• Design and optimize relational databases, including Microsoft SQL. 

• Build and maintain REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, and distributed systems. 

• Identify technical blockers early and work with the team to find practical solutions. 

• Lead code reviews and maintain strong standards for quality, security, performance, and maintainability. 

AI-assisted development and product innovation 

• Use AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude as part of your day-to-day workflow. 

• Contribute to AI functionality being built directly into Vocantas products. 

• Help evaluate models and approaches based on factors such as performance, cost, reliability, and the problem being solved. 

• Work closely with Product, QA, and other developers to turn requirements into working software. 

What We’re Looking For 

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong backend experience. 

• Strong hands-on experience with .NET and C#, including recent experience with modern .NET. 

• Experience with Vue.js and TypeScript; experience with Angular or another modern JavaScript framework is also relevant. 

• Practical experience applying domain-driven design and microservices architecture. 

• Experience working with Microsoft SQL or another relational database. 

• Experience building and integrating REST APIs. 

• Comfort working across the stack when needed. 

• Regular experience using AI-assisted development tools as part of your workflow. 

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to raise blockers early, ask questions when requirements are unclear, and work openly with teammates. 

• Ability to take ownership of your work while contributing effectively within a small development team. 

Strongly Preferred 

• Experience building AI-powered functionality into a software product, including working with models or AI pipelines. 

• Experience with message brokers, asynchronous systems, or high-traffic distributed applications. 

• Experience working with secure software in healthcare, manufacturing, or another environment with strong security requirements.
