Manulife is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Product Owner who will oversee Canada Retirement’s Education and Engagement Programs.
The incumbent will work closely with a cross-functional team to lead the end-to-end strategy and execution of education and engagement programs that support the organization’s strategic goals and meet member needs. This role requires ongoing monitoring of programs in flight for continuous improvement and the development of new programs to drive member engagement, improve financial literacy, and retirement readiness.
This role reports to the Director, Member Engagement and is expected to work closely with teams across the organization to improve engagement and support the education needs of Canada Retirement group plan members.
Position Responsibilities:
Product ownership
Develop and own the roadmap for member education programs and ensure alignment to Canada Retirement’s strategic priorities and member outcome goals.
Orchestrate the end-to-end delivery for multiple concurrent initiatives utilizing different delivery modes.
Develop and launch new education and engagement programs based on member insights, market trends, and business goals.
Work with cross-functional teams across business units and geographies to develop educational and engagement programs (facilitating brainstorming, aligning on objectives, and best practices) and support execution.
Responsible for running annual planning and quarterly updates.
Respond quickly to market changes with updated programing.
Develop segmentation and lifecycle journeys to drive sustained engagement.
Ensure programs meet regulatory, privacy, and brand standards.
Manage current learning content and develop a strategy for refreshing content.
Support technology updates and vendor discussions to ensure seamless use of current technology and the ability to utilize new technologies.
Act as the education SME to various teams who look to this role for consultation and support on a variety of topics and initiatives.
Member engagement
Build and scale education programs across multi-channel journeys.
Using voice-of-customer, research, and segmentation to identify educational needs.
Run pilots using behavioral nudges and human-centered design to test new initiatives and iterative improvements for existing programs.
Cross-functional leadership
Lead collaboratively without direct authority.
Experience influencing and aligning teams to build consensus, make decisions, and drive outcomes in a matrixed organization.
Collaborate closely with multiple teams across the organization to plan and execute on programs, initiatives, and campaigns.
Meet regularly with leaders from across the organization to socialize new initiatives, collect feedback, and provide regular updates to leaders.
Program and project management
Proven track record managing multiple concurrent initiatives, roadmaps, and cross-functional teams.
Facilitate meetings, maintain timelines, ensure regular and transparent communication, and align stakeholders on goals, timelines, and dependencies.
Comfortable presenting to small and large groups of stakeholders to clearly articulate program vision and tell the education story.
Provide regular updates and executive-ready reporting on progress and results.
Data-driven decisions and reporting
Leverage qualitative and quantitative research to identify gaps, test messages, and refine content and channels.
Responsible for updates to member surveys and regular review of feedback.
Utilize the feedback to continuously improve the program offering.
Establish measurement frameworks to track and analyze performance of program.
Provide monthly reporting for educational programs.
Be able to communicate the member education and engagement story with data.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a similar program.
7–10+ years progressive financial services experience in product or program management.
One or more of:
Background in adult education;
Experience building financial literacy programs;
Experience launching and managing education programs (webinars, podcasts, events, workshops).
Ability to take initiative, lead projects, and work with minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational, prioritization, and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to identify and understand business problems, explore possible solutions, and provide clear recommendations to leaders on the best path forward.
Exceptional collaboration, relationship management, and communication skills.
Ability to learn quickly, problem solve, and have an agile mindset to pivot as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Quebec, proficiency in both languages will be required to work with teams from various provinces outside of Quebec and countries outside of Canada.
Knowledge of Canadian retirement landscape (group pension plans, RRSPs, TFSAs, decumulation, regulatory context) is a strong asset.
Familiarity with tools such as Medallia, Adobe Analytics, WebEx, CVENT, Teams Webinars and Teams Events, Synthesia as well as digital production and/or distribution platforms, and content management systems.
Continuing education courses or experience in adult education, learning & development, or training.
Natural curiosity to learn about new tools and technologies that could help improve the member education experience.
Understanding and/or past interaction with stakeholders in the group pensions eco-system such as Plan Sponsors, Plan Administrators, Plan Members, Advisor and/or Consultants.

Salary range is expected to be between
$85,300.00 CAD - $135,300.00 CADEmployees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
