Senior Product Manager, Carrier Capabilities

Shipping & handling responsibilities

Product Strategy & Vision

• Own the product vision and strategy for Carrier Capabilities, aligned to Shippo’s growth, reliability, and cost goals.
• Translate business goals (revenue growth, retention, carrier expansion) into a prioritized carrier capabilities roadmap.

Carrier Capability & Platform Ownership

• Define standardized carrier capabilities (e.g., rating, labeling, tracking, billing, configuration) and how they are represented internally.
• Own product decisions for carrier API abstractions, configuration models, error standards, and quality requirements.
• Review and prioritize new carrier features and API changes, balancing customer value, carrier constraints, and platform health.

Execution & Delivery

• Lead cross‑functional delivery for new carrier integrations, major upgrades, and deprecations in partnership with engineering and technical program management.
• Support incident response and post‑mortems to ensure carrier issues result in durable product improvements.

Quality, Metrics & Insights

• Measure performance indicators for carrier integrations, including quality, reliability, upgrade cadence, and operational cost.
• Build visibility into carrier health, coverage gaps, and capability maturity to inform roadmap and investment decisions.
• Use data, customer feedback, and operational insights to continuously refine priorities.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

• Partner closely with Carrier Partnerships, Carrier Operations, Solutions Architecture, and GTM teams to ensure alignment from contract to production.
• Serve as the primary product counterpart for senior stakeholders on carrier‑related initiatives.
• Influence without authority across multiple product and engineering teams to drive alignment on shared goals.
• Be a simplifier. Your communication is a craft that lets you right-size the message for any audience.

Your shipping requirements

• 4+ years of Product Management experience, with significant experience owning technical platforms or APIs.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and integration patterns.
• Proven ability to lead complex, cross‑team initiatives with high ambiguity and high impact.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to influence senior technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Bonus

• Experience with parcel carrier integrations or logistics platforms.
• Background in software engineering or other deeply technical roles.
• Experience scaling internal platforms used by multiple product teams.

Compensation

Our Compensation Shippolicy:

We believe compensation is a custom experience and are commited to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base pay range for this role is min is $134k to a max $182k annual salary (we tend to anchor our offers at the mid point $158k). Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere, we have 2 US pay ranges, a standard compensation range for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher, such as NYC and California.

The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: financial budgets, work experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include, equity, medical, dental, vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.
