AI Summary

You will lead the end-to-end design process for complex, 0-to-1 product experiences that connect strategy to execution. This involves collaborating with product, engineering, and content teams to deliver intuitive, scalable, and data-informed solutions.

Overview

Working at Atlassian

Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Product Designer on the Goals and Projects team in Strategy Collection, you’ll play a central role in shaping the vision and user experience of apps that help organizations set goals, align work, and track progress—connecting strategy to execution across Atlassian’s System of Work. You’ll tackle complex, 0-to-1 design challenges within Goals & Projects and across apps, turning ambiguous problems into intuitive, thoughtfully crafted experiences.

What You’ll Do

You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Content Design to deliver end-to-end product experiences that empower organizations to execute on their biggest ideas.

  • Drive end-to-end design execution: Own the complete design process from early concept exploration, user flows, and wireframes to high-fidelity UI, interactive prototypes, and production-ready specifications.

  • Tackle complex 0-to-1 problem spaces: Navigate ambiguity by framing strategic problem statements, defining design hypotheses, and running rapid iterations to bring clarity to emerging capabilities (including AI-driven synthesis, strategic roll-ups, and modern status reporting).

  • AI-Assisted prototyping & code-level craft: Leverage AI tools and modern workflows to rapidly build interactive, functional prototypes, and contribute directly to codebases by pushing pull requests (PRs) to bridge the gap between design and production engineering.

  • Champion craft & systems thinking: Design within and contribute to Atlassian’s design system, ensuring consistent, accessible, and scalable UX patterns across multiple interconnected tools.

  • Customer-centric validation: Partner with researchers, product managers, and customer-facing teams to conduct generative and evaluative user testing, customer interviews, and Early Access Programs (EAPs).

  • Cross-functional leadership: Serve as a core design leader within your triad (Product, Engineering, Design), facilitating alignment workshops, driving design crits, and mentoring team members.

  • Data-informed & outcome-driven design: Combine qualitative customer insights with product telemetry and quantitative data to guide iterative design decisions and measure impact.

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. We follow consistent hiring practices and account for each candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience when setting base pay within the range.

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience designing complex digital products and SaaS/enterprise applications at scale.

  • Experience designing AI-native features, agentic workflows, or human-in-the-loop validation patterns.

  • Strategic problem solving: Proven track record of taking complex workflows or ambiguous domains and turning them into simple, elegant, user-centered solutions.

  • Interaction & visual craft: Deep expertise in interaction design, information architecture, customer journey mapping, and pixel-level visual design polish.

  • Prototyping & tools mastery: Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, FigJam, interactive prototyping tools) to communicate intent and test interactions with users.

  • Systems-level thinking: Demonstrated ability to work with and evolve multi-product design systems, scalable component libraries, and cross-experience patterns.

  • Cross-functional collaboration & influence: Strong facilitation, storytelling, and communication skills; adept at articulating design rationale, navigating trade-offs, and influencing product direction with engineering and product leaders.

  • Customer empathy: Experience leading customer interviews, usability testing, and translating research findings into tangible design directions.
