Senior Product Designer, Cybersecurity

About the Team & Opportunity

Clever owns authentication for education — every moment a student, teacher, or staff member proves who they are, and the devices they do it on. That scope keeps growing: beyond SSO and MFA, we're now figuring out how AI agents authenticate and what they should be allowed to reach, and how schools manage access across devices. This role brings design judgment across that whole space, working horizontally with the teams involved to create a coherent login experience, while also defining the next set of problems to solve. It's a chance to help shape what authentication means for the EdTech industry.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• The problem you'll solve: Authentication in education spans several fast-moving areas — human login, AI agent access, and device-level identity — each raising its own design questions. This role brings one coherent design point of view across all of it, so the experience holds together even as the underlying problems are still taking shape.
• Who you'll partner with: Product and engineering leads across the teams working on authentication, plus the broader design team.
• What success looks like: A consistent, well-considered authentication experience even as new surfaces like agent access get added.

Key projects you'll lead: Design direction for how authentication extends into new territory — agent access, device-level identity — while keeping the core login experience coherent as it grows.

What We’re Looking For

Required Skills & Experience (Must-Haves):

• Experience designing complex, security products — cybersecurity, identity/authentication
• Experience operating horizontally across multiple teams or product areas, setting consistent design direction without owning every team directly
• Direct experience mentoring or coaching other designers, with a specific approach to helping them grow
• Strong cross-functional collaboration experience, partnering closely with product and engineering across several teams at once
• Comfort using AI tools to prototype and accelerate design work
• Strong written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):

• Background in K-12 EdTech
• Familiarity with identity protocols such as OAuth/OIDC or SSO/MFA standards
• Experience designing or shipping AI-driven product features

Salary Transparency

The range of our base salary cash compensation for this role for candidates living in the United States, besides NYC and San Francisco, CA, is between $149,000-$175,000. For candidates living in NYC and San Francisco, CA, it's between $165,000-$192,000. All final offers are determined using multiple factors, including experience and level of expertise.
