About the Role

As a Senior Power BI Engineer, you will own the end-to-end development of semantic models within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. This is a high-impact role involving the migration of legacy systems (WebFOCUS) into modern Power BI assets. You will act as the technical bridge between business stakeholders and data engineering teams, managing high-scale models (up to 70M rows) where sub-second performance is the standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabric Implementation: Own the development and maintenance of semantic models in Microsoft Fabric Direct Lake, ensuring they align with existing Medallion architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold).

• Schema Execution: Implement and refine star schemas (fact and dimension tables) within the Fabric environment based on provided technical specifications.

• Direct Lake Optimization: Manage and tune high-scale models (10M–70M rows) to ensure sub-second performance for concurrent power users, moving beyond standard Import/Direct Query methods.

• Logic Reverse-Engineering: Lead the migration of complex WebFOCUS reports to Power BI. This involves deconstructing legacy business logic across 1,500+ columns and 800+ dynamic filters and rebuilding them into streamlined, modern BI assets.

• Advanced DAX Development: Write, test, and deploy production-ready DAX measures and calculated columns. You will be responsible for the accuracy and performance of the calculation layer.

• Security & Governance: Implement robust Row-Level Security (RLS) for complex financial access patterns and manage deployments via CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins + BitBucket).

• Technical Bridge: Act as the lead consultant between the business, UX designers (Figma), and Databricks engineers (Poland/India). You will translate business requirements into technical BI tasks.

• Performance Tuning: Take end-to-end responsibility for the BI data chain. Partner with engineers to optimize Delta Lake tables (V-Order, partitioning, compaction) for optimal downstream BI consumption.

Requirements

• Power BI Mastery: 4+ years in Data Analytics/BI with at least 3 years of intensive Power BI development.

• Fabric Specialization (Non-Negotiable): Hands-on production experience with Microsoft Fabric and Direct Lake mode.

• Modeling Expert: Knowledge of Star Schema implementation and the Medallion data architecture.

• DAX Specialist: Advanced proficiency in writing complex, performance-tuned DAX (iterators, filters, and time intelligence).

• Data Literacy: SQL skills for validating data against Databricks Gold layers and a solid understanding of Delta Lake optimization (V-Order, partitioning).

• Consultancy Skills: High-level English (C1+) with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and lead technical discussions in a multi-vendor environment.
