Job Description

We seek a senior leader to own and deliver high-impact financial analysis, valuation, market research, and capital allocation strategy for mining clients and internal initiatives. You will lead investment case development, market research, commercial planning, sector roadmaps, and financial modelling for mining projects globally. You will translate complex market and technical drivers into clear decisions for senior decisionmakers.

  • Lead economic evaluations (DCF, NPV/IRR, payback, scenario/sensitivity analysis).
  • Build standardized, auditable models that link technical drivers to financial outcomes.
  • Apply risk analysis (e.g., probabilistic ranges, Monte Carlo) and, where appropriate, real-options logic.
  • Develop capital allocation frameworks, investment criteria, and stage-gate governance.
  • Lead portfolio reviews across greenfield, brownfield, sustaining capital, and closure liabilities.
  • Own commodity market research for strategy and individual projects.
  • Benchmark peers and competitors; analyze margins, capital intensity, and productivity.
  • Support/lead due diligence for investments, JVs, and M&A from a finance/market perspective.
  • Translate technical QRA/estimating outputs into valuation impacts and executive-ready recommendations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 8 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex financial analysis projects and capital allocation processes.
  • Advanced Excel-based modelling; expert scenario/sensitivity design; robust model architecture and auditability.
  • Proficiency translating mine plans, costs, and schedules into cash flows and valuation metrics.
  • Deep understanding of mineral markets.
  • Hands-on design and operation of capital governance (stage-gate), portfolio optimization, and investment criteria (hurdle rates, risk-adjusted returns).

Preferred Requirements

  • 10–20 years across corporate development, strategy, equity research, project finance, or consulting in mining.
  • Bachelor’s in Finance, Economics, Engineering (Mining/Civil) or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
