Your role at a glance
The Senior Manager, Global Category Sourcing – IT & Indirect is responsible for defining and leading the global sourcing strategy across IT and indirect spend categories. This role drives enterprise-wide value creation through strategic sourcing, supplier optimization, and cost transformation initiatives while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
As a senior leader, this role oversees category strategy development, supplier governance, and risk management, while partnering closely with Finance, IT, Legal, and business stakeholders to deliver integrated and scalable sourcing solutions. The Senior Manager also leads and develops high-performing sourcing teams and ensures consistent application of procurement best practices across regions.
What we are looking for
KEY REPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine global category sourcing strategies across IT and indirect spend categories (e.g., IT hardware/software, telecom, professional services, facilities).
- Align sourcing strategies with business objectives, long-term plans, and cost optimization targets.
- Lead high-value, complex sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, commercial negotiations, and contract finalization.
- Identify and deliver cost-saving and value-creation opportunities while maintaining or improving service quality and supplier performance.
- Utilize data-driven analysis, benchmarking, and market intelligence to inform sourcing decisions and continuously refine category strategies.
Stakeholder & Supplier Management
- Partner with senior stakeholders (IT, Finance, Operations, Legal) to ensure alignment of sourcing strategies with business needs and priorities.
- Lead supplier negotiations to secure optimal commercial terms, pricing, and service levels.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, driving performance management, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate effective communication between sourcing, procurement operations, and business units to resolve complex sourcing and supplier-related issues.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across global sourcing and supply chain activities, including supplier, financial, operational, and geopolitical risks.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to ensure business continuity for critical categories.
- Ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies, global sourcing standards, and regional regulatory requirements.
- Oversee internal and external audit activities related to sourcing and supplier management, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and timely resolution of issues.
Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Drive standardization and optimization of sourcing processes, tools, and methodologies across regions.
- Champion procurement transformation initiatives, including digital sourcing tools, automation, and data analytics capabilities.
- Monitor category performance through KPIs (e.g., savings, supplier performance, compliance, spend under management) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
People Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global sourcing team, including Managers, Specialists, and Analysts.
- Establish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching, and support career development and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning within the sourcing organization.
KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES
- Deep expertise in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management, particularly within IT and indirect spend categories.
- Strong commercial acumen with advanced negotiation and contract management skills.
- Ability to translate market intelligence and spend data into actionable sourcing strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across global, cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-region sourcing initiatives and drive enterprise-wide impact.
- Strong understanding of procurement systems and tools (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa) and integration with ERP platforms.
- High level of integrity, governance mindset, and risk awareness.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
- Preferred: MBA or professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or equivalent.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 10–15 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, with significant focus on IT and indirect category management.
- Proven track record in developing and executing global category strategies and delivering measurable cost savings.
- Experience leading complex negotiations and managing strategic supplier relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and developing teams in a global or matrixed environment.
- Experience working in multinational organizations with complex stakeholder landscapes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly moves equipment and other hardware up to ## lbs.
- Frequently move about inside and outside of data center / facility
- Remain stationary for long periods of time.
- Ascend / Descend a ladder and perform duties atop a raised platform.
- Position self in small spaces.
- Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment.
- Perform work during US business hours and time zones.
WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Travel required 15% of time.
- Perform work from a remote location with stable internet connection.
Compensation Pay Range
This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $172,700.00 - $198,200.00.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
