AET Federal is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA to join a four-person team supporting a federal agency's server-based applications. The team includes a Senior and Mid-Level DBA for Oracle and the same pair for SQL Server.
The Senior Oracle DBA serves as the Oracle Team Lead and is responsible for Oracle database administration, performance, availability, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, patching, and critical incident response. The role also provides technical guidance to the Mid-Level Oracle DBA.
Key Responsibilities
Oracle administration and monitoring
Administer and monitor production and non-production Oracle database environments
Support Oracle Database, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, and RAC
Monitor database health, availability, storage, backups, and performance
Troubleshoot complex database, application, and connectivity issues
Manage ServiceNow incidents, requests, and changes
Maintenance and performance
Plan and perform Oracle patching, upgrades, installations, and scheduled maintenance
Perform routine database maintenance, including tablespace, statistics, storage, security, and user administration
Diagnose and resolve performance issues using AWR, ASH, ADDM, alert logs, and execution plans
Tune SQL/PLSQL, indexes, optimizer statistics, and database configurations
Backup, recovery and disaster recovery
Manage and validate Oracle RMAN backup and recovery procedures
Perform RMAN restores, recovery testing, and point-in-time recovery
Lead failover and disaster recovery testing and execute recovery procedures
Support high-availability environments using RAC and Data Guard
Maintain DR runbooks and document recovery testing
Leadership and collaboration
Lead response to critical production incidents and perform root-cause analysis
Provide technical guidance to the Mid-Level Oracle DBA
Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and technical teams
Maintain database documentation, procedures, and recovery plans
Contribute to weekly support reporting and remain available on Microsoft Teams during core hours
Required Qualifications
8+ years of hands-on Oracle database administration experience
Strong experience with Oracle Database, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, and RAC
Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills
Hands-on experience with Oracle RMAN backup, restore, and recovery
Experience executing database recovery, failover, and disaster recovery testing
Strong Oracle performance tuning experience using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and execution plans
Experience with Oracle patching, upgrades, maintenance, and production support
Experience leading critical database incidents and root-cause analysis
Experience with ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM tool
Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
Willing and able to pass a federal background investigation
Able to work 8 hours per day within 7:30 AM–6:00 PM ET, with occasional scheduled after-hours work
Willing to sign a letter of commitment for this proposal
