NAIS is seeking an Enterprise Architect to provide operations and maintenance services, as well as design and development support services, on a contract supporting a government agency. This will be a full-time salaried position with compensation based on your professional experience and overall aptitude

 

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Enterprise Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, IT strategy, modern technologies, and agile development processes to help maintain, shape, and modernize critical business systems.

 

You will play a pivotal role in aligning IT infrastructure and software development processes with business goals, ensuring scalable and sustainable solutions that meet current and future needs

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform a variety of system design and engineering tasks that are broad in nature, involving the design and implementation of major enterprise systems development and integration.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise architecture blueprint that aligns IT strategy with business objectives.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more specific areas of computer system design and networking.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimum solutions balancing specific project needs with current and future business needs and constraints.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the IT infrastructure, application landscape, and architecture processes.
  • Ensure adherence to architecture standards, industry best practices, and security protocols
  • Provide leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring architectural integrity across all technology projects.
  • Use scientific and engineering logic to independently identify conceptual or theoretical solutions to technology systems hardware or software design and operation challenges.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) as an Enterprise Architect or in a similar senior IT leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of business process design, system integration, and data architecture.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in designing and engineering major enterprise systems, including system integration and supporting infrastructures.
  • Experience with:
    • Cloud & Execution Environments
      • AWS Cloud Regions - Understanding of regional deployment boundaries, data residency, and service availability.
      • AWS Serverless & PaaS Services - Day to day operation of managed components including AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon MSK/Kafka, and Amazon RDS PostgreSQL.
      • Network & Security Perimeters - Managing custom VPCs, private/public subnets, NAT Gateways, and port isolation. 
    • Monitoring, observability and logging tools
      • Amazon CloudWatch - Log groups, metric filters, alarm thresholds and custom operational dashboards.
      • Sumo Logic - Familiarity with SIEM/log forwarding via AWS Kinesis Firehose, or S3 data event trails.
      • AWS CloudTrail & AWS Config -API call histories, monitoring and auditing object access
    • Security, Compliance & Access Management 
      • AWS IAM - Review and auding least-privilege inline JSON policies, resource ARNs and execution role permissions. 
      • AWS Secrets Manager & KMS - Manages secure parameter storage, automated password rotations, and customer managed cryptographic keys. 
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Deployment Tools 
      • Terraform - Read, review and adjust existing .tf configuration modules for infrastructure maintenance.
      • Variable files - Utilizes environment isolation strategies to manage configuration states. 
      • AWS CLI & Powershell - Executes local orchestration scripts, packages Linux-compatible Lambda layers, and interacts with resources via command-line.
    • File Transfers, Integration & Alerting applications
      • AWS Transfer Family - Maintains SFTP servers and web portals utilized by external stakeholders.
      • Amazon SNS (simple notification service) - Oversees topic-based message dispatching and email templates. 
      • Git & Version Control Clients - Git CLI (Gitlab), VS Code source control. Pull, commit, track changes from repository branches. 
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or equivalent are a plus.
