Senior Engineer, Supplier Development - High Voltage Components

You will work alongside cross-functional teams to drive Rivian quality requirements and manage our contract manufacturers quality performance ensuring seamless scaling of production. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and quality of Rivian’s products, ensuring successful launches for new programs as proper management on current ones. This is a remote position, offering the flexibility to work from home, paired with a 50-70% travel requirement.

• Lead supplier industrialization and readiness for high voltage components
• Support supplier selection and capability assessment for both greenfield (new plant) and brownfield (existing plant expansion) projects, ensuring alignment with program timelines and quality expectations.

• Drive APQP discipline and enforce PPAP requirements, ensuring suppliers meet dimensional, material, and performance validation before production approval.

• Develop and track industrialization project KPIs, including PPAP on-time approval, process capability (Cpk/Ppk), first-pass yield, and PPM targets to measure supplier readiness.

• Evaluate and validate supplier manufacturing processes by leading process audits, PFMEA reviews, control plan validation, and equipment capability/Run@rate assessments.

• Optimize supplier manufacturing scalability, ensuring production lines are capable of meeting increasing volume and quality expectations during ramp-up phases.

• Monitor supplier industrialization performance through KPIs such as on-time PPAP submission, process capability indices (Cpk/Ppk), defect rates (PPM), issue closure rate, and supplier corrective action effectiveness.

• Facilitate problem resolution using structured methodologies (focused problem solving) to address defects, process deviations, and launch roadblocks proactively.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to drive VA/VE cost optimization, ensuring seamless design implementation into supplier manufacturing processes and technology while maintaining quality and performance standards

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English to ensure workplace safety, effective communication, and operational efficiency.
• This is a remote position, offering the flexibility to work from home, paired with a 50-70% travel requirement. As a remote employee, you must be a self-starter who can work independently, maintain high productivity, and drive results with minimal supervision.

Responsabilidades:

• Dirigir la industrialización y preparación de los proveedores para todos los productos básicos.
• Respaldar la selección de proveedores y la evaluación de capacidades para proyectos de terreno
  no urbanizado (nueva planta) y terreno urbanizado (expansión de planta existente), asegurando
  la alineación con los plazos del programa y las expectativas de calidad.
• Impulsar la disciplina de APQP y hacer cumplir los requisitos de PPAP, garantizando que los
  proveedores cumplan con la validación dimensional, de materiales y de desempeño antes de la
  aprobación para producción.
• Desarrollar y rastrear los KPI de proyectos de industrialización, incluida la aprobación puntual
  del PPAP, la capacidad del proceso (Cpk/Ppk), el rendimiento de primera pasada y los objetivos
  del PPM para medir la preparación del proveedor.
• Evaluar y validar los procesos de fabricación de proveedores dirigiendo auditorías de procesos,
  revisiones de PFMEA, validación del plan de control y evaluaciones de capacidad de
  equipos/evaluaciones de velocidad de producción.
• Optimizar la escalabilidad de fabricación del proveedor, garantizando que las líneas de
  producción sean capaces de cumplir con las expectativas de volumen y calidad en aumento
  durante las fases de expansión.
• Monitorear el desempeño de la industrialización del proveedor a través de KPI como
  presentación puntual del PPAP, índices de capacidad de proceso (Cpk/Ppk), tasas de defectos
  (PPM), tasa de cierre de problemas y efectividad de las medidas correctivas del proveedor.
• Facilitar la resolución de problemas utilizando metodologías estructuradas (resolución de
  problemas enfocada) para abordar defectos, desviaciones de procesos y obstáculos de
  lanzamiento de manera proactiva.
• Colaborar de manera interfuncional con los equipos de Ingeniería, Calidad y Cadena de
  Suministros para impulsar la optimización de costos de VA/VE, garantizando una
  implementación de diseño sin problemas en los procesos y la tecnología de fabricación de
  proveedores y, al mismo tiempo, manteniendo los estándares de calidad y desempeño.

• Requiere entre un 50% y un 70% de viajes.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or other related field
• 3+ years of supplier quality engineering experience
• Direct supplier development or quality engineering experience with high-voltage (HV) commodities, including BDUs, HVDBs, contactors, pyrofuses, fuses, busbars, shunts, and high-voltage wire harnesses.
• Strong Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
• Technical expertise of automotive components designs and manufacturing, including knowledge
  of safety and test requirements and appearance approval process
• Knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T) and datum structures
• Experience in Extrusion and fabrication commodities.
• In depth knowledge of IATF16949:2016 and understanding of ISO14001

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or other related fields
• Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills (Team Working) as well as negotiation skills.
• Ability to analyze and present data effectively

Calificaciones básicas:

• Licenciatura en Ingeniería, Cadena de Suministros u otro campo relacionado

• Mínimo 3 años de experiencia en ingeniería de calidad de proveedores.

• Experiencia directa en desarrollo de proveedores o ingeniería de calidad con componentes de alto voltaje (HV), incluyendo BDUs, HVDBs, contactores, pirofusibles, fusibles, barras colectoras (busbars), shunts y arneses de alto voltaje.

• Conocimiento sólido de Planificación avanzada de la calidad del producto (APQP), Proceso de
  aprobación de piezas de producción (PPAP), Análisis de modo y efecto de fallas (FMEA)
• Experiencia técnica en diseños y fabricación de componentes automotrices, incluidos
  conocimientos de los requisitos de seguridad y pruebas, y el proceso de aprobación de
  apariencia
• Conocimientos de diseño geométrico y tolerancia (GD&T), y estructuras de referencia
• Experiencia en productos de extrusión y fabricación.
• Conocimiento profundo de IATF16949:2016 y comprensión de ISO14001

The salary range for this role is 592,100 MXN - 740,138 MXN annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
