POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of Digital Media is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and execution of USBC's digital media platforms and content initiatives, including BowlTV, Bowling TV, Bowlers Journal International, and consumer-facing digital products.
This position develops integrated content, programming and digital product strategies that strengthen audience engagement, enhance the consumer experience and support organizational growth. Working collaboratively across Marketing, Creative, Communications, Video Production, Event Operations and external partners, the role helps ensure USBC's digital platforms deliver high-quality content, innovative experiences and measurable business results.
The Senior Director combines strategic planning, editorial leadership, digital product management and live production expertise to advance USBC's digital media portfolio while identifying new opportunities for audience growth, revenue generation and content innovation.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership and Planning
- Develop and execute an integrated strategy for USBC's digital media portfolio, including BowlTV, Bowling TV, Bowlers Journal International and consumer-facing digital products.
- Establish annual priorities, business plans, audience growth objectives, budgets and performance metrics.
- Evaluate audience behavior, platform performance and industry trends to identify opportunities for growth, innovation and revenue generation.
- Ensure digital media initiatives align with organizational priorities, brand standards and the needs of members, subscribers, viewers and readers.
- Present recommendations, performance updates and long-term strategies to organizational leadership.
BowlTV, Bowling TV and Digital Distribution
- Develop programming, audience growth and content strategies for BowlTV and Bowling TV.
- Lead pre-production planning for live and recorded programming, including show formats, editorial direction, graphics, sponsorship integration and talent preparation.
- Coordinate production schedules, programming priorities and technical requirements in collaboration with Video Production, Event Operations and external partners.
- Identify opportunities to expand programming through original productions, archived content and strategic content partnerships.
- Evaluate programming performance, audience engagement and financial results to guide future investment and content decisions.
Bowlers Journal International
- Provide strategic direction for Bowlers Journal International, including editorial positioning, circulation, subscriptions, advertising and long-term business planning.
- Collaborate with editorial contributors and organizational stakeholders to establish annual content priorities and audience engagement strategies.
- Identify opportunities to expand the publication's digital presence and integrate storytelling across print, web, streaming and video platforms.
- Coordinate editorial, advertising, production and circulation activities with internal and external partners.
- Maintain strong editorial standards while balancing reader value, organizational priorities and business objectives.
Content Development and Production Collaboration
- Conceive, develop and manage long-form and short-form storytelling featuring athletes, events, instructional content and the history of the sport.
- Develop scripts, story outlines, production plans, interview strategies and content schedules for digital platforms.
- Collaborate with the Video Production team to produce content for BowlTV, Bowling TV, YouTube, websites, social media, television and organizational initiatives.
- Participate in writing, producing, directing, interviewing, editing or voiceover work when appropriate to support key organizational priorities.
- Support editorial development and content planning for BOWL.com, BowlTV.com, PWBA.com, and other digital platforms.
Business Planning, Analytics and Organizational Collaboration
- Monitor audience, subscription, circulation, revenue, expense, and engagement performance across assigned platforms.
- Use analytics, research and consumer insights to guide programming, product development and content strategies.
- Identify operational efficiencies, new technologies, content partnerships and distribution opportunities that support organizational goals.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Creative, Communications, Video Production, Event Operations and external partners to deliver integrated organizational initiatives.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in digital media, publishing, streaming and content distribution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of digital publishing, streaming platforms, consumer-facing digital products, and content distribution strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong editorial judgment and storytelling abilities across digital, print, and video platforms.

- Ability to interpret analytics, audience insights, and performance metrics to support strategic decision-making.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors and external partners.
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, Digital Media, Marketing, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in digital media, broadcasting, publishing, streaming, content development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing digital content, programming or audience growth strategies.
- Experience managing digital products, streaming platforms or publishing operations preferred.
- Experience producing or directing live sports or event programming preferred.
- Experience developing business plans, budgets and performance reporting.
- Experience within sports, media or membership-based organizations preferred.
- Must pass the RVP program and maintain a “Green Light” status.
- Must adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program is a condition of employment and continued employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and/or climb.
- Must be able to move/lift up to 75lbs.
