AI Summary

Lead market readiness and medical strategy for rare cardiomyopathies, focusing on market shaping, KOL engagement, and scientific exchange. Act as a strategic partner to the CSO to drive pipeline prioritization and competitive intelligence.

Atrium is a biopharmaceutical company pioneering delivery of RNA therapeutics to the heart to transform the standard of care for people living with cardiomyopathies. Our proprietary technology leverages the targeted RNA delivery platform initially designed at Avidity, which combines the tissue selectivity of mAbs and other targeted delivery ligands with the precision of oligonucleotides.

This unique combination is designed to allow selective targeting of the underlying genetic drivers of disease that were previously undruggable. Through targeted, non-viral delivery of siRNA to cardiac tissues, our approach has the potential to overcome key limitations of nonspecific viral and nanoparticle-based delivery systems, including challenges related to tissue specificity, immunogenicity, and redosing.

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Senior Director of Market Readiness & Medical Strategy is a newly created role within Atrium’s Strategy office. This person will serve as the connective tissue between medical strategy, disease ecosystem development, and market shaping — building the external stakeholder infrastructure and internal strategic frameworks needed to bring Atrium’s programs to patients.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role suited to someone who operates at the strategic level and rolls up their sleeves to execute. You will have significant autonomy, direct access to senior leadership, and the opportunity to build programs that define how Atrium shows up in the rare cardiomyopathy field.

At Atrium, we move with urgency and intellectual rigor, and we believe that AI-augmented ways of working are not a future ambition but a present standard. Every member of our team is expected to embrace emerging tools and technologies as a natural part of how we think, research, and execute

Responsibilities:

Market Shaping for Rare Cardiomyopathies
• Serve as Atrium’s internal subject matter expert on the rare cardiomyopathy disease landscape, anchoring market shaping strategy in deep scientific and clinical understanding, partnering closely with the early development core team to inform trial design and patient identification infrastructure.
• Develop and lead patient mapping strategy across relevant cardiomyopathy indications, including genotype-phenotype landscape analysis, patient journey modeling, and identification of underdiagnosed populations
• Lead disease awareness and diagnostic gap strategy.

KOL Engagement
• Build and execute a comprehensive KOL engagement strategy spanning academic centers, rare disease specialists, and emerging digital opinion leaders in cardiomyopathy and cardiovascular genetics
• Establish and steward advisory board programs, ensuring high-quality scientific exchange and actionable insight generation for internal stakeholders across clinical, R&D, and strategy functions
• Maintain a high-integrity external engagement approach aligned with Atrium’s scientific standards and evolving program needs

Scientific exchange Strategy & Planning
•  Collaborate with clinical development and patient advocacy teams to develop real-world evidence strategy and coordinate natural history studies
• Own Atrium’s congress presence strategy, identifying priority conferences, shaping scientific storytelling, and coordinating cross-functional execution across posters, presentations, and symposia
• Develop and drive Atrium’s publication plan in partnership with clinical and R&D teams, ensuring a coordinated, scientifically rigorous evidence dissemination strategy aligned with program milestones and disease area priorities
• Coordinate internal review, authorship planning, and timeline management to support high-quality scientific outputs

New Product Planning & Prioritization
• Lead strategic assessments of pipeline opportunities, including disease area prioritization frameworks, unmet need analyses, and new indication evaluations
• Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CSO and ELT on portfolio decisions and investment prioritization, synthesizing clinical, scientific, and market signals into clear recommendations

Competitive Intelligence
• Build and maintain a systematic competitive intelligence capability, tracking the evolving landscape in genetic cardiomyopathies, including emerging programs, pipeline developments, regulatory signals, and scientific trends
• Translate competitive insights into strategic implications for Atrium’s positioning and differentiation narrative

Leadership
• Serve as the foundation of a future market readiness and medical strategy function with the expectation of growing into a people leadership role as Atrium scales
• Demonstrate strong leadership in a matrixed environment, building trusted partnerships with cross-functional colleagues, with particular close collaboration with the Early Development Lead

Education & Experience Requirements:

• 12+ years of biopharma experience with a strong foundation in Medical Affairs and a demonstrated ability to think and operate with strategic breadth
• Experience in rare disease is required; rare cardiomyopathy or cardiovascular genetics experience is a strong plus
• Proven track record building KOL networks, driving publication strategy, and leading congress planning
• Comfortable operating as an individual contributor in a lean, resource-constrained environment, a builder who creates structure where none exists
• Strong cross-functional influencing skills; good collaborator in a matrix organization, able to operate at the intersection of science, strategy, and execution without formal authority
• Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, or MBA) preferred; exceptional candidates with MS and deep rare disease experience will be considered
• 50% travel expected
