AI Summary

You will partner with product teams to design, deploy, and operate scalable AWS cloud infrastructure while identifying and removing sources of developer friction. Your role involves building automation, improving CI/CD workflows, and strengthening observability to enhance overall developer productivity.

Location
In-office or Remote - (strong preference for overlap with Pacific Time).

Employment Type
Full-time employee.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer to improve how our engineering teams design, deploy, and operate cloud infrastructure—and to help product engineers move faster with less operational overhead.

This is not a ticket-driven infrastructure role. You’ll work closely with product and infrastructure engineers to understand how they build and operate services, identify recurring sources of friction, and turn those patterns into pragmatic platform and cloud architecture improvements.

Developer productivity is a core outcome of this role. You’ll help create fast feedback loops, safe self-service workflows, and clear infrastructure patterns that reduce cognitive load and let engineers spend more time building products.

You’ll own problems end to end: investigating developer friction or production risks, proposing solutions, implementing them, and measuring whether they worked. That might mean simplifying an AWS architecture, shortening a deployment workflow, building a reusable platform capability, strengthening observability, or writing Terraform. We care more about your engineering judgment and the outcomes you create than any particular tool.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with product teams to understand their workloads, constraints, operational pain points, and growth plans.

  • Identify patterns across teams and translate them into shared infrastructure capabilities, standards, and paved roads.

  • Design and evolve AWS infrastructure with clear tradeoffs across reliability, scalability, security, cost, and developer velocity.

  • Improve how engineers provision infrastructure, deploy services, observe production systems, and diagnose failures.

  • Build automation and internal tooling that eliminate repetitive work without hiding important operational details.

We care more about your engineering judgment and the outcomes you create than any particular tool.

  • Improve CI/CD systems and deployment practices, including safe rollouts, rollback strategies, and infrastructure changes.

  • Strengthen observability across applications and infrastructure through useful metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerts.

  • Participate in incident response and postmortems, then drive systemic improvements rather than one-off fixes.

  • Maintain infrastructure as code and help establish patterns that are understandable, testable, and easy to evolve.

  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to build practical controls into the platform.

  • Document architectural decisions and help raise infrastructure and operational standards across engineering.

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience designing and operating production cloud systems, ideally on AWS.

  • Strong systems thinking: you can move between application behavior, cloud infrastructure, networking, deployment systems, and operational data.

  • A track record of solving ambiguous infrastructure problems rather than only implementing predefined solutions.

  • Experience partnering with product engineers and influencing technical decisions across team boundaries.

  • Sound judgment around reliability, security, cost, scalability, and engineering velocity.

  • Production experience with infrastructure as code. We use Terraform, but deep expertise in module authoring is not the defining requirement.

  • Strong automation or software engineering skills in languages such as Python, Go, or TypeScript.

  • Experience building and improving CI/CD systems and production deployment workflows.

  • Practical experience with observability and incident response.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, challenge assumptions constructively, and explain infrastructure decisions to engineers with different backgrounds.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building internal platforms or developer infrastructure in a fast-growing engineering organization.

  • Experience with containerized and serverless workloads, such as ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or Lambda.

  • Familiarity with multi-account AWS environments and cloud governance.

  • Experience operating databases and stateful services such as RDS, Aurora, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

  • Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance environments.

  • Experience improving cloud cost visibility and efficiency.

What We Offer

  • Broad ownership and meaningful influence over our cloud and platform direction.

  • Close collaboration with the engineers building our products and production systems.

  • Complex infrastructure challenges at the intersection of AI, browser automation, and distributed systems.

  • A culture that values engineering judgment, simplicity, security, and ownership.

  • A remote, flexible, and async-friendly working environment.

  • Competitive compensation.
