Senior Decision Scientist - Retail Operations

Position Summary
The Senior Decision Scientist is responsible for leveraging data, analytics, and business insights to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence across Retail Operations. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, product teams, and technical teams to translate complex business questions into analytical solutions and actionable recommendations.

The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capabilities, technical expertise, project leadership, and communication skills to ensure data-driven products and insights are accurate, impactful, and aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include supporting data validation efforts, managing multiple initiatives, developing executive-ready presentations, and communicating analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

This position requires a highly detail-oriented individual who can navigate ambiguity, drive projects forward, and effectively bridge the gap between business and technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in analytics, decision science, business intelligence, reporting, data science, consulting, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience writing SQL queries for data validation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects and coordinating deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
• Experience developing presentations and communications for business and leadership audiences.
• Demonstrates strong ability to communicate technical concepts and analytical findings to business partners and leadership audiences.
• Proven ability to develop compelling, data-driven narratives and executive-level PowerPoint presentations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality analytical work products.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple business and technology platforms and/or proficiency with SQL and one or more analytics, visualization, or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Plotly, Python, or related technologies).
• Experience working with Agile methodologies and project management tools such as Jira.
• Experience in Retail, Healthcare, Consumer Analytics, or other large-scale operational environments.

Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative discipline.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$101,970.00 - $203,940.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
