AI Summary

Draft and edit high-profile communications for executive leadership, including responses to congressional committees and the GAO. Manage correspondence workflows, maintain communication logs, and ensure all deliverables meet strict accuracy and timeliness standards.

Overview

When Congress, the Government Accountability Office (GAO), or the press asks the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) a question, your words become the government's response--and part of the Federal record.

FWI is seeking a Senior Correspondence Analyst to support DHS's Office of Procurement Operations (OPO) on its Executive Correspondence Support Services task order. In this role, you will work within a team to draft, refine, and manage high-profile communications to federal oversight entities, including congressional committees, Members of Congress, and the Government Accountability Office, as well as other external federal stakeholders. The work is aimed at making every outgoing OPO communication clear, consistent, strategically aligned, and on time. This position reports to the Senior Communications & Outreach Specialist.

FWI is expanding rapidly and has been recognized as a 2024, 2025 and 2026 Top Workplace, offering excellent growth opportunities in a collaborative environment.

  • Draft and edit complex, sensitive, and routine letters, emails, and memoranda on behalf of OPO executive leadership.
  • Prepare formal responses to inquiries from congressional committees, Members of Congress, GAO, and other oversight entities.
  • Develop briefing materials that prepare executive-level agency officials for information requests from media, press organizations, and internal or external stakeholders.
  • Review and triage incoming correspondence so urgent matters reach OPO executives for immediate attention.
  • Help the Senior Communications & Outreach Specialist establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and tracking mechanisms that keep responses on time.
  • Keep communications consistent and accurate across all channels, in line with Departmental guidelines.
  • Fact-check and proofread every deliverable to ensure there are zero grammatical errors and absolute accuracy.
  • Draft and turn around correspondence, memoranda, and briefing materials as needed, typically within 2 business days of a request.
  • Update the Weekly Communication Log and the Monthly Performance Report.
  • Contribute to the Correspondence Template Library for recurring correspondence types.
