SENIOR CONTROLLER/STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ADVISOR
Teamswell is a high-growth nearshore outsourcing company working for US companies. Our mission is to help small and medium-sized US businesses grow and become more profitable by having access to highly engaged, skilled, and experienced talent at a fair price, and to generate career opportunities for bilingual professionals in Latin America with fair compensation and opportunities for professional and personal growth.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Controller / Strategic Financial Advisor to oversee day-to-day financial operations while serving as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO. The ideal candidate can maintain accurate, efficient financial operations while looking beyond the numbers to identify risks, anticipate challenges, and uncover opportunities for growth. We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, brings practical solutions rather than simply pointing out problems, and has the confidence to challenge assumptions and respectfully push back on the CEO when the financial data, market conditions, or operational realities call for a different approach.
In Teamswell every team member has an instrumental role and impact on the success of our business and our client’s success, so we seek to have highly motivated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced work environment, who are intelligent, eager to work hard, reliable, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization. Our Senior Controller / Strategic Financial Advisor will possess the skills and experience required and will also possess a positive attitude and ability to solve complex problems and work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. We value people who are good communicators, quick learners, scrappy about finding creative solutions to problems, and conscious of their work quality. We expect all our team members to deliver excellence in both technical expertise as well as in their everyday relationships with their team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial statements.
· Manage day-to-day accounting operations: A/P, A/R, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and internal controls.
· Build and maintain rolling budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models that reflect the realities of the business, not just optimistic assumptions.
· Partner directly with the CEO on strategic and operational decisions, providing clear financial analysis and a point of view not just data.
· Proactively identify financial risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities across the business, and bring recommended solutions, not just problems.
· Challenge assumptions and decisions when the numbers don't support them, even when that means disagreeing with leadership.
· Oversee compliance, tax filings, and relationships with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions.
· Develop dashboards and reports that give leadership real visibility into margins, cash position, and unit economics.
· Support pricing, vendor, and cost-structure decisions with rigorous, big-picture financial analysis.
· Help build scalable financial processes and systems as the company grows.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
· 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including experience at the Controller level or above.
· A genuine big-picture mentality: you connect the dots between financial data and business strategy.
· A solutions-first approach: you don't just report problems; you propose ways to fix them.
· Confidence and diplomacy to push back on the CEO or leadership when the data warrants it.
· Strong technical accounting foundation (GAAP, close processes, internal controls) paired with strategic financial acumen.
· Experience in consumer products, CPG, or a similar product-based business is a strong plus.
· Comfort operating in a lean, fast-moving environment where you'll own both the details and the strategy.
· CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required if experience demonstrates equivalent capability.
· Excellent communication skills; able to translate financial complexity into clear guidance for non-finance stakeholders.
