Summary:

The Senior Stop Loss Consultant is a subject-matter expert responsible for leading complex stop-loss engagements, including renewals, marketings, claims oversight, and strategic advisory support for self-funded employer clients. This role serves as a primary client-facing consultant and internal escalation point, providing technical expertise, carrier and contract strategy guidance, and mentorship to junior consultants.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Advisory & Strategy

  • Serve as the lead stop-loss advisor on complex client relationships.
  • Advise on stop-loss program design including deductibles, lasers, aggregations, and contracts.
  • Translate claims and renewal data into actionable client recommendations.

Renewals & Marketings

  • Lead end-to-end stop-loss renewals and marketings.
  • Review and compare carrier proposals.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with carriers.

Claims Oversight

  • Provide oversight of high-dollar stop-loss claims.
  • Coordinate reimbursements with TPAs and carriers.
  • Identify reimbursement and contract risk issues.

Internal Leadership

  • Mentor and train junior consultants.
  • Serve as escalation expert on technical stop-loss matters.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of stop-loss consulting experience.
  • Deep knowledge of stop-loss contracts and underwriting.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large self-funded employers.
  • Prior mentorship or leadership experience.

The base salary range for this position is $77,000 to $132,000.  The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
