Fohntech Group are construction partners to the leading mechanical and electrical companies in Ireland, the UK and Europe, working in the Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, Biopharma, Data Centres, and Oil and Gas Sectors. Due to the continued growth of our business, we are currently seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to join our team in our team. This role can fully remote or hybrid option is available in our Leixlip office.
The successful Senior Compliance Officer will oversee employment compliance across multiple European jurisdictions within the construction sector. You will ensure all hiring, employment, payroll, and workforce practices comply with EU legislation and country-specific labour, tax, immigration, and social security requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with EU employment legislation and local labour laws across multiple European countries.
- Advise on the legal and financial aspects of hiring employees, including payroll compliance, taxation, social security, and statutory employment obligations.
- Support cross-border workforce mobility, employee onboarding, and contractor engagement in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Monitor changes in European employment, construction, and compliance legislation, ensuring company policies remain up to date.
- Conduct compliance audits, risk assessments, and internal investigations where required.
- Work closely with HR, Legal, Finance, Payroll, and operational teams to ensure compliant employment practices.
- Manage documentation and regulatory reporting to meet local and EU compliance requirements.
- Develop and deliver compliance training and guidance to managers and stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5–10 years' experience in compliance, employment law, legal, or HR compliance within an international organisation.
- Extensive knowledge of EU employment legislation and country-specific labour laws across multiple European jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, taxation, social security, posted workers regulations, and employee mobility within Europe.
- Experience within the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sector is essential.
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance risks associated with hiring employees across different European countries.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree in Law, Human Resources, Business, Compliance, or a related discipline. Professional compliance or legal qualifications are advantageous.
