Senior Community Manager, APAC
Location: China
Employment Type: Full time, long-term contract
Location Type: Remote
Department: Scape
About us
We are Scape, a Swedish game studio of about 30 people, fully remote by choice. We are launching Scape on Steam Early Access later this year: a growing platform of multiplayer games where a player's identity carries across all of them. The first game inside Scape is Gravity: a precision climbing game where 100 players share one server, one tower, and one long way down. Our senior team has shipped and run live games at studios including Arrowhead (Helldivers 2), Avalanche Studios, and Ubisoft.
Gravity is built for the clip: a hundred players, one tower, one long way down. We are looking for the person who turns that into a feed people follow.
The role
Community is our growth engine, not our support desk. Gravity is built to be clipped, streamed, and shared, and Asia Pacific is where much of that happens: Simplified Chinese alone is the largest language on Steam. We are hiring the person who builds and runs our community across APAC, with China as the priority market. You are our first person in the region. The role reports to our Lead Community Manager, and you work daily with him and with our commercial team. You join around our Steam launch and build the region's community from its first thousand members.
What you will own
Our community across APAC: structure, tone, and daily presence in the region's community spaces.
Our Chinese channels, including our official presence on platforms such as Bilibili, Douyin, WeChat and QQ as we open them.
The region's languages on our Steam presence: discussions, comments on announcements, and player reviews, with Simplified Chinese first.
Day-to-day communication with our clipper and creator network across the region, alongside our Lead Commercial Manager who owns the relationships.
Creator events and play sessions in the region's prime time: scheduled sessions where creators and invited players fill 100-player servers.
Planning and hosting live sessions in Chinese and English: AMAs, developer Q&As, and events that bring the team and the region's players together.
A volunteer moderator program built from our most engaged players in the region.
Daily monitoring for problems that grow fast, with a clear escalation path when they do.
You
Are located in mainland China and know its platforms from the inside: Bilibili, Douyin, WeChat, QQ, and the Chinese-language player community on Steam.
Understand how Chinese platforms work for a foreign company: platform onboarding and account rules, real-name requirements, and content-review regimes.
Are proficient in Chinese and in English, which is our internal language. Both are requirements: spoken Mandarin and written Simplified Chinese, with Traditional Chinese a bonus.
Know the APAC community landscape beyond China, and where community lives in each market.
Have run community for a live game through a launch or a period of real growth, and can walk us through it.
Understand creator culture firsthand, including clippers, streamers, and short-form platforms.
Are comfortable on camera, speaking live to an audience and hosting sessions with our team.
Write fast and well in both languages.
Can stay calm when something blows up at 23:00 on a launch weekend and know the difference between a fire and a spark.
Work a normal working day on China hours; evenings around events and launch windows are part of community work.
Have a passion for games and play all sorts of games to keep up with the latest trends.
What we offer
A launch with real ambition and the tools to match: a game designed to produce moments people share, a creator program with genuine revenue share for creators, and a marketing framework already in place. A long-term contract with no end date. The chance to own a region, build its community from its first thousand members in the world's largest Steam market, and be the reason it works.
