Overview:
GovCIO is currently seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the transition of Digital Collection Services (DCS) from on-premises infrastructure to AWS GovCloud. The engineer will provide hands-on administration, configuration, troubleshooting, security, and operational support for the AWS infrastructure supporting large-scale evidentiary data and DCS applications.

The position requires strong AWS infrastructure experience, particularly with EC2, FSx ONTAP, IAM, networking, and CloudWatch, as well as the ability to operate in a hybrid AWS, Azure, and VA on-premises environment.

This position is fully remote located in the continental United States.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and troubleshoot AWS GovCloud infrastructure supporting DCS.Â
- Manage Amazon EC2, including Windows-based cloud servers.Â
- Configure and administer Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP storage environments.Â
- Manage Amazon S3 storage and associated cloud infrastructure.Â
- Configure and maintain AWS IAM roles, policies, and access controls.Â
- Configure and troubleshoot VPCs, security groups, firewall rules, ports, routing, and network connectivity.Â
- Implement and maintain CloudWatch monitoring, logging, and alerting.Â
- Support secure connectivity and data flows between AWS, Azure, and VA on-premises environments.Â
- Use AWS CLI and automation tools to support infrastructure administration and operational activities.Â
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, storage, network, connectivity, availability, and performance issues.Â
- Support cloud security and compliance requirements within the AWS GovCloud environment.Â
- Monitor infrastructure capacity, performance, availability, and operational health.Â
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and troubleshooting runbooks.Â
- Coordinate with VA platform teams, AWS engineering teams, application teams, and other technical stakeholders.Â
- Support the transition from legacy on-premises infrastructure to sustainable cloud operations.Â
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience
Â
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred and 12+ years of experience. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.Â
- 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering or systems engineering.Â
- 3+ years of hands-on AWS administration experience.Â
- Experience working in AWS GovCloud or comparable regulated cloud environments.Â
- Hands-on experience administering Amazon EC2, including Windows Server environments.Â
- Hands-on experience with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP.Â
- Experience managing Amazon S3 storage.Â
- Experience with AWS IAM, including roles, policies, permissions, and access controls.Â
- Experience with AWS VPCs, security groups, firewall rules, ports, routing, and network connectivity.Â
- Experience with Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring, logging, and alerting.Â
- Experience using AWS CLI for administration and automation.Â
- Experience supporting hybrid or multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and on-premises infrastructure.Â
- Knowledge of cloud security, access management, and compliance requirements.Â
- Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, and performance issues.Â
- Experience developing technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.Â
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.Â

Clearance Required:Â Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust/Suitability clearance.

- AWS certification such as Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator.Â
- Experience supporting FedRAMP or federal government cloud environments.Â
- Experience with NetApp ONTAP and SnapMirror.Â
- Experience with Azure administration.Â
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.Â
