As a Senior Claims Representative – Short Term Disability you will be reviewing claim forms, eligibility, medical information and vocational information to determine if Short Term Disability benefits are payable.

This position is full-time (40 hours / week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 8 - 12 weeks of paid training. The hours of training will be based on your schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

           

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Individuals in this position are responsible for managing a caseload of initial liability and ongoing Short Term Disability claims 
  • They will effectively and professionally utilize sound judgment, technical knowledge, communication skills, and focused resources (medical, vocational, legal, etc.) to manage claims to appropriate conclusion in accordance with applicable internal and external regulations, policies and procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of experience in reviewing and rendering initial liability determinations on Short Term Disability claims
  • 1+ years of experience issuing payments on Short Term Disability claims
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (creating spreadsheets), Microsoft Word (creating documents) and Microsoft Outlook (drafting emails, calendar management)
  • Presently employed within UHC Benefit Operations, Consumer Ops
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime

                

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FML, PFML and / OR Worker's Compensation claims experience
  • Experience with medical terminology

               

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $20 - $36 hourly based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
