Job Summary

Manage a range of moderate to complex claims with minimal supervision, including bodily injury, PIP, and general liability property damage. Use critical thinking to research and develop a foundation for making coverage decisions.

Work Location

This position is an in-office role located in West Bend, Madison or Appleton, WI. 

This position offers both remote and hybrid work locations.  Candidates who reside within 50 miles of an office location (West Bend, Madison, Appleton) will be offered a hybrid work schedule.  Candidates who are fully remote (beyond 50 miles) may occasionally be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and corporate events. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

We're seeking an experienced claims professional to join our team and handle a portfolio of moderate to complex Bodily Injury (BI), Personal Injury Protection (PIP), and General Liability Property Damage (GLPD) claims. In this role, you'll take ownership of claims from investigation through resolution, using strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate coverage, determine liability, assess damages, and negotiate fair settlements.

 

The ideal candidate has experience handling complex casualty claims and a strong understanding of policy language, endorsements, contracts, risk transfer agreements, and indemnification tenders. You'll be responsible for maintaining accurate reserves, managing files effectively, presenting claims to committees when needed, and drafting reservation of rights and coverage denial letters. Success in this role requires sound judgment, strong negotiation and communication skills, a commitment to exceptional customer service, and the ability to consistently meet quality and audit standards.

 

We're looking for a collaborative team player who embraces change, contributes to projects and process improvements, and enjoys solving complex claims challenges. Candidates should have at least 2–3 years of complex claims handling experience, particularly in bodily injury and general liability property damage claims. A bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field is preferred, along with AINS and/or AIC designations. This position is ideally suited for someone located in the Milwaukee or Madison metro area.

Salary Statement

The salary range for this position is $68,000-$90,000.   

  

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.  Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
