Senior Backend Engineer (PHP/Python)

You will be:

• developing and maintaining business-critical platforms supporting commercial and financial operations,
• building and enhancing backend solutions using PHP and Python,
• developing REST APIs and integrations with external data sources,
• designing and maintaining data import, transformation, and processing pipelines,
• working with PostgreSQL and SQL to support application functionality and data processing,
• contributing to the development of the Data Collection Platform, including API integrations and web scraping,
• collaborating closely with Commercial, Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions,
• participating in an Agile environment with 2-week sprints and quarterly planning cycles,
• contributing to code quality, architecture, and continuous improvement of the platforms.

Your profile:

• strong commercial experience in backend development, including PHP and Python,
• very good practical knowledge of Symfony,
• strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL,
• experience building and maintaining REST APIs and system integrations,
• practical experience with data imports, transformations, or processing pipelines,
• understanding of software architecture and backend design principles,
• familiarity with Git and modern software development practices,
• practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery,
• ability to understand business requirements and proactively propose technical improvements,
• strong communication and collaboration skills, including working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders,
• ownership mindset and ability to work independently,
• good command of English. 

• Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have:

• experience with Apache Airflow,
• familiarity with Snowflake or other analytics platforms,
• experience with AWS,
• hands-on experience with web scraping solutions,
• experience working with business intelligence or data analytics environments,
• basic frontend development skills with JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS,
• experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work,
• interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches.
