Position Title: Senior Backend Developer

Location: LATAM

What you will be doing:

The ideal candidate has deep JVM expertise, strong proficiency in Kotlin or Java, and recent hands-on experience with Spring Boot. This role requires someone who can design, build, troubleshoot, and operate distributed, integration-heavy systems in complex customer-controlled cloud environments.

Beyond traditional backend engineering, this position expects strong proficiency with AI-assisted software development, including daily use of Claude Code and AI-powered code-review tools. The successful candidate will be able to move quickly with AI while maintaining high engineering standards and independently validating AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, test coverage, and architectural fit.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of professional backend software development, including substantial ownership of production systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical

experience.

• Deep JVM experience and strong proficiency with Kotlin or Java (preferred); recent hands-on Spring Boot experience is required.

• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot distributed, integration-heavy systems.

• Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including schema design, query analysis, migrations, and production data investigation.

• Experience building REST APIs and asynchronous, event-driven, or batch-processing workflows.

• Experience with Docker and image creation. 

• Hands-on Linux and container experience; ability to work effectively with platform

engineers in customer-controlled cloud environments.

• Proficiency with the following AWS services is highly preferred: ECS or EKS, MemoryDB, RDS (Postgres), EC2, Workspace, ELB, API GW, ECR, Glue.

• Strong automated-testing discipline and practical experience with CI/CD and production

release processes.

• Daily fluency with AI coding assistants, specifically Claude Code, and comfort working

with AI-assisted code-review tools.

• Ability to validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, test

coverage, and fit with the surrounding architecture before it is accepted.

• Track record of independently driving ambiguous work to a verified outcome.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate, diagram and document complex engineering concepts.
